Is Blue Man Group considered a loud show?

I feel kind of dumb for asking this since I've seen Blue Man Group many times (on tour, Luxor, Venetian, Monte Carlo) and have recommended the show many times on this board, but I'm usually paying attention to the show and not really thinking about whether it comes across as being loud.

My parents are coming to town and I'm trying to find a show that they'd be interested in watching. My mom is somewhat sensitive to extended periods of loud sounds.

As far as I can think of, most of the show is actually quite mellow, with the drumming portions not really that loud. I don't remember ever leaving the show with a headache or with my ears ringing. I think the only time it gets a bit louder would be when the band comes in on top of the BMG drumming (like halfway through Drumbone).

What do you guys think? I think it's easier to tell if you saw it once, since you'd distinctly remember it being really loud if it was.

I saw it at the Venetian and didn't think it was loud but the person I went with wore ear plugs. She is a party pooper though.

 

Every show I've ever been to is loud. She should wear ear plugs then it doesn't matter. My wife never goes anywhere without them.

 

I haven't been to any show in Vegas that isn't loud. The venues are large so I guess they have to be that way. The Cirque show Ka' is loud but I don't remember Mystere being very loud. Ear plugs would work for Ka' and it's a pretty spectacular show!!

 

I found it loud and the constant drumming was annoying. I left with a headache which I never get. I would never take a sensitive person to that show. Just my 2 cents.

 

I havent seen the show, but the round they do through the casino around 6 is extremely loud and annoying

 

Depending on the age of your parents, Million Dollar Quartet or Jersey Boys would likely be good options. Blue Man Group would fall into the loud category.

 

There are a lot of options for ear plugs and I tend to keep a pair handy.
I have even used them in some movie theaters.
Bring a pair and enjoy the show.

 

It's very, very loud. Tons of drums! I believe they have earplugs available there for free. Ask an usher.

 

Seen Blue Man Group twice. First time in New York when they performed in a tiny little theatre. Thought it was extremely loud then. Then saw it at the Venetian. Had forgotten how loud it can be and how it can quickly overload your senses. If you are sensitive to the banging of drums and synthesizers, I would recommend taking your parents to something they might enjoy more musically. Human Nature is a wonderful show featuring all the greatest Motown hits. They might enjoy and relate to that more.

 

Thanks everyone. I think I will choose something else. I love Blue Man Group, but I'd hate for my mom to be uncomfortable (and not say anything because she knows it probably costs quite a lot). She doesn't like using earplugs, so not a great option.

I've seen Blue Man Group so many times, but I've never actually thought about the loudness. And I guess it really is sensory overload with all the strobes and lighting.

They've seen Human Nature and Jersey Boys and most of the Cirque shows in town. Starting to run out of options!

I think the safest choice would be Jeff Civillico, even though it's just a short afternoon show.
