florida cuban cafe

the Florida Cafe/grill at the howard johnsons...anybody been? How is it? seeking true cuban.

 

I haven't been there, but there is a really good Cuban restaurant called Cuba Cafe on East Tropicana.

 

We went to the Florida Cafe on our last trip for mojitos, here is my TR notes:

We were warmly greeted on entering and took a seat at the bar. After reviewing the menu, we ordered mojitos and the pappas rellenos con aioli appetizer (deep fried mashed potatoes stuffed picadillo beef with aioli). Our mojitos were probably the best we have ever had. The rellenos were grease free and tasty, but I would gladly trade the picadillo for more aioli. ($15, Groupon, 5 Sips and 3 Forks)










We also have been to the Cuba Cafe several times over the years, but I probably will opt to return to the Florida Cafe the next time I get in the mood for Cuban cuisine. The owners of Florida Cafe also own a more upscale restaurant, Havana Cafe, in Henderson.

 

I thought Florida Cafe was pretty good and the best Cuban I have had in Vegas.

Cuba Cafe on the other hand, I thought was a little disappointing.

 

I've eaten there about 6 times, very good and authentic Cuban food.
