Can someone give me the overall on the Barrett Jackson auctions at Mandalay Bay every Sept.

I have looked at the website and it shows a few cars. I was hoping to see hundreds of cars go through, but there isn't a program published yet or a car list. I am guessing the website only has a random sample of some of the higher end sales from last year listed.

I would be set up as a bidder so I can bring a guest (father-in law) but would probably get tickets for my wife and mother in law. Can they access where the bidders can sit to be with us or will they be stuck in the back?

Regardless - if anyone can give me an opinion on the auction I would appreciate it.

    Thanks

ive watched it alot on tv and get there updates so this might help ,the cars are displayed on the grounds where you can walk around and preview them,i belive the earlier days are geared to lower end car prices and the weekend are the real expensive ones, where the auction takes place the good seats are reserved for bidders i belive if not bidding you would sit on the sides in the arena,i belive there is a nominal fee to do all these things.

pss i trying to go this year also

sign up at barret jackson for updates ,they run a good email updates for you that will help,ps if your not local they have discount rooms available

I'm 80% sure I will be there.... will sign up as a "bidder" as it really isn't that much more than just buying tickets and I may pick up something the first day or so.

I went to the one in Scottsdale last year as I happened to be in town as it was going on. Just did a quick walk around, did not go in the bidding area. This one in Scottsdale is massive, really hard to see all the cars in just one day. IIRC, it is a week long event.

It's gigantic! We've gone to Vegas the past 3 years at that time so my Dad could go, he loves it. They do the bidding in the Mandalay Bay arena, and the cars are all in this giant hanger. Definitely hundreds of cars. Then they have the test drive area outside. It's a really massive event.

It's 3 days, so I'm sure lots of cars go through.. as far as the bidding and things I don't know, but I assume you could call them up and ask?

I'm quite the car nut. I sold a 1969 L-88 Stingray at Barret Jacksons about 10 years ago, and have owned and restored classic cars all my life..I'm particularly perverted about Cadillacs from 1955-1959 :drooling:..That being said I've also had a passion for exotics since the 1980's. Never owned one, but my brother is a Ferrari owner (curently the 458 Spyder.) so I get to drive one every so often - usually when he is sleeping off post 19th hole festivities.. When he comes into town to visit mom and dad he usually catches a round of golf with my other brothers, then they take in a Hooters visit, then a visit to America's shittiest casino The Hard Rock Tampa, and always wrap thngs up with a visit to the Mons Venus - you get it. He won't drive that car with a sniff of booze on his breath, and Fort Lauderdale is a bitch to drive from Tampa if you're :drunk:...I usually talk him into leaving the car at mom and dads, ask him to leave the keys as I will be doing stuff for them that day. He knows what I'm doing, but it's almost like a tradition, he looks at me tells me to be very careful then hands me the keys and his Exxon card. :evillaugh Damn are those cars nice. Relinquishing the keys back to him the next morning/afternoon (depending on how fucked up they were the night before) is as bad as the last day of a Vegas vacation....

All of that being said (going through a bit of coffee/caffeine mania right now please excuse the sidetracking) I know the Bugatti is a helluva car performance wise - 250 mph plus is what dragsters ran in the 70's and 80's if you think about it - but the car just isn't aesthetically pleasing to me. The front end kind of kills it's looks I think. However, if someone were to give me one to drive for a day, hell, for even an hour, I'd be more than accepting of the offer...:wink2:

I couldn't agree with you more Gino, I appreciate what the Bugatti is from a performance standpoint, but in my eyes it is just not an appealing car. I also have a bit of hatred for it seeing as how it took the record back from the SSC Ultimate Aero for the fastest production car. SSC is only a few minutes for my door which is pretty neat seeing as the area I live in is fairly small.
