Ok, I need your feedback please. Due to an upcoming fight, we can't book our favorite hotels using comps. Could you please tell me your thoughts on the following hotels and their room types?

The Palms: Superior Fantasy Tower/2 queens
    The Quad: Double Deluxe Queen
    Harrah's: Double Deluxe Queen
    Bally's: Jubilee Premium/2 queens
And Flamingo, but just read about the sewer issue so not wanting that one.

It's just for two of our nights and I have to admit that we've been spoiled with Palazzo, Caesar's Octavius, and Cosmo being our usual haunts as they have a better smoke removal system, plus you want to feel pampered when it's your only vacation ;-)

Being a mother and daughter we really don't care about the club scene, we mainly want a comfortable room and a good casino with plenty of slot variety. I'd also love to hear what type of upgrade we should try for at these four hotels.

    Thanks for sharing your suggestions!

Thanks so much for any advice!!

No idea about rooms at the Palms but my last choices would be the Quad or Harrahs....just not a fan of either. The Jubilee rooms at Bally's look pretty nice and we have one booked for our March trip. One of those with a fountain view would definitely be my choice. We like the location of Bally's / Paris....(like 2 for 1) short walk to most of the places we go.

Wow, these are all a big step down from where you usually stay. IMO, Palms is the best of the options you have listed, but I personally do not enjoy staying off strip. Of the Strip options, Ballys blows away Quad and Harrahs. Ballys is old with an older clientele, but its better location, bigger rooms, and a better casino

Out of those, Bally's.....best location out of all of them. I wouldn't stay at the Quad if someone paid me to.

Those are pretty bad choices all of them. I'd pick another weekend.

Ballys, Paris, PH - easy walk to Cosmo

I assume you have checked the RATE calendar and not just offers.

LOL! Those are some step downs, I realize. But we're having Caesars for 3 nights at the beginning and Palazzo for two nights at the end so it's just that middle part. The casino rates for the weekend are pretty dismal and I don't always do a 'Four Seasons' kind of vacation, many times it's Comfort Suites or Hampton Inn.
Playing wise, Bally's gave me $1000 on Top Dollar in the first five minutes of my visit last time, so it's not too bad:nworthy:
We went out to The Palms and played a fair amount last time and the odds are supposed to be better out there but I couldn't hit anything on any machine.

So Ballys, huh? Ok, what type of room should I try for that will have two beds?

    Thanks so much!!

I wouldn't discourage you from going whatsoever. Ballys is a big step down from the places you listed but I think its just fine. I stayed there three or four times in the past several years and it was ok. As for rooms, not my field of expertise, since I haven't stayed there too recently, but I recall staying in the north tower and the rooms were really spacious, especially for the price

I'd say go for Bally's. Good location and lots of slot choices.
You can easily go over to Paris through the indoor shops/walkway to check out the slots there too.

Definitely Bally's, although i don't see why you can't get comped at Caesars Forum rooms (like me next week), and then use the $20 tip to upgrade upon checking in.
Having said that, Bally's is right at mid-strip, your're also connected (literally) to Paris and a hop, skip, and jump away from Planet Hollywood.

Going to disagree with everyone here and suggest the Palms. I think it is a lot more fun than pretty much anywhere else on your list. I guess it depends on how much time you spend at your hotel gambling and just relaxing. If you just love to wander the Strip and gamble at a lot of different places, than I guess I'd suggest the Flamingo, Harrahs or Ballys.

Or another hotel....like the places you like. IMO, a comp'd room somewhere you're not happy versus a "paid for" room (and it sounds like from your play, you could at least get a discounted/casino rate) at a hotel/casino you love.

Especially if you only get to go to Vegas once or twice/yr.

    Just my 2 cents....

I like Bally's. Great location, nice rooms (we actually got upgraded to a junior suite with a $20 at checkin) and has a tram stop if you want to go to MGM or LVH.

out of that group the palms has the nicest rooms hands down, there no other answer and yes ive stayed in all of them.then the flamingo.

harrahs and ballys and quad are real dated as of now.

the simpile question is do you mind staying off strip.

Comp question, which hotel would you choose - part 2

Apologies if I am hijacking your thread.

I signed in to search for room info and to ask this same question with a different set of rooms.

Comp is for five nights over New Years Eve. Although we have been to Vegas many times, it will be our first time over NYE so we were thinking to stay on the strip. Choices are:

    Paris - Red Room Premier
    Harrahs - Petit Suite
    Ballys - Jubilee Premium
Rio - Samba King with strip view
(Caesars and PH are not comped)

From the earlier posts, sounds like Paris or Ballys would be the room choice. Any comments on location for NYE?

Thanks in advance and sorry again.

Paris, Ballys or Harrahs, in that order. But, the variance is marginal. For sure, not Rio as I would want to be on the strip.

    Completely agree with this.
I would pay several hundred dollars before staying in a comp room at the Quad.

I went to Vegas over NYE a few years ago. Mistake. Waaaaay too many people. All the tables, slots were taken, Crap tables were taken and every casino jacked up the minimum bets everywhere. Buffet prices were through the roof too. We got there on the 29th and went for a breakfast buffet over at the Bellagio. $36 per person. We were like WTF? Was told 'holiday rates'. Since when is Dec 29th a holiday?

Thought it would be cool to be out on the strip to watch the fireworks at midnight. Lets just say worlds largest mosh pit. Wife and I swore we would never do it again.

A year later, there we were again. But this time at midnight we went up to our room (Flamingo) and watched the fireworks from a high floor.

    Still, never again.

About the only cool thing that week was being able to walk from Excalibur to Flamingo right down Las Vegas Blvd. The traffic is stopped along the street at 6pm on NYE so you can see the casinos from a different perspective. However, if you want to catch a cab during this 6 or so hour time frame, plan on double fare. It'll cost 30 bucks just to go across the street.
