I was considering taking a 30 day leave to live in Vegas for 30 days. I found a room at the Veer Towers for rent. Vegas has the 3 things I love in life...gambling, women, drinking. I was wondering on what living in Vegas is like. Any insight would be helpful.

I'm in Vegas nearly every month, but don't live there.

Anyway, I love the idea. Go for it!

If you don't mind me asking, what is a month rental in Veer cost?

In my personal opinion staying for a month on the strip is more like an extended vacation. My guess is you'll cook a lot more than a normal vacation, but in terms of time it's a vacation.

    Either way, enjoy!

Off the top of my head, I think that last time I looked they were starting in the neighborhood of $1400. Since the bulk purchase of the remaining units, though, I'm pretty sure they're pretty much sold out, which means you're looking at renting through owners (either individuals or management companies), so it's a bit more of a pain in the ass.

I have a litany of reasons why we left Vegas, but for 30 days, that will just seem like an extended vacation.
    Enjoy!

Staying on the Strip for a month is not living in Vegas. You're comparing apples and oranges, lol.

Sue is right. You're looking at an extended vacation; not actually living in Vegas. If you survive the 30 days without going broke you may have a future here. I love Las Vegas, it's been home for ten years now. There is one thing I've learned that it's not suited for everyone. It takes a certain kind to be a desert dweller, but beyond that Las Vegas is full of vices. You named three. There are a dozen others. If you're disciplined and can partake in moderation you have a shot; if not you'll be one of the many that makes this city so transient.

Life in Vegas is a lot like living in other cities, except we have nearly 360 days of sunshine, hot summers, mild winters, perfect spring & fall, and it's far more convenient. Plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment 24/7. Allergies will probably be worse here. Expect higher insurance and vehicle registration, but no state tax or tax on groceries. People tend to stick to themselves and friends come and go. Family and friends from back home will come and visit. If you don't want visitors don't have a guest room.

Not living there I am merely relaying what numerous friends who do live there say about it. First the vices are there but most all my friends live about as normal a life as we do here in Oklahoma, they gamble but mostly off strip, they party but not to excess. From what they say away from the strip and downtown itself Vegas life in the areas they live is pretty much like where they came from. BUT to quote a lifer friend of mines song lyrics the downside is this "Third strikes and suicides call this place home" . There are plenty who move there and do not make it but if you can and live in the right area its a great town, unless you have kids, the education system sucks, allergies are BAD as mentioned above as well with all the non native plants.

I been here 6 month from Austin Tx. I moved here to gamble and more to enjoy. I like it , I rented a house 15 miles from strip. I mostly play at strip casinos, its more fun and more games to play. Set your limit on day to day lost , stay away from problem ladies. Its fun place to live when you have can control the bank roll. :peace:

Out of curiosity, as well as a friend with rentals there, where, what size and how much. My friend made me what would be considered here a great deal for a place in the NE part of Henderson we are considering.

I am near santa fe and aliente casino. I am renting a two story 3 bd, 2.5 bath , 2 car garage that about 1600 sq feet for $900 a month. Plenty of shopping malls near by , very safe area. I actually prefer this area compare to Summerllin area , less traffic over all.

Honestly, I'd avoid LAS for an "extended vacation". I was there for three months last year for work and can't imagine being there for another month again. I'd much rather travel around the world with that time... probably just me though..

As I sit here in my $2k+ studio apartment in Manhattan, this is really making me want to go ahead and take the Nevada bar exam already...

Living in Las Vegas has been great for me so far! I've been here about a month and a half, and loving it.

Living in Las Vegas is fine, it really depends on what you want to get out of the experience.

Most locals who do not work on the strip avoid it like the plague. It is over-priced, traffic is bad on the strip, and there are better things to do than just hang with tourists. The local restaurants are good, as are the variety of entertainment options.

In Calgary that house would be $2500+ a month to rent here. Average house for sale is $425 to 450k and it doesn't get you much, but we do have a really good economy here with jobs so..
