I'm tentatively planning a trip in September with my son.

The last two trips we took together, (his only two) we stayed downtown, so I mentioned to him that we should consider the strip for this trip.

Looking at my Total Rewards offers, I have some choices for 3 nights comped:

    "Roman Tower Room" @ Caesar's
    Rio "Deluxe Studio Suite"
    Flamingo "Fab Deluxe"
    Quad "Deluxe"
    Bally's North Tower "Classic"
    Harrah's

Based solely on room & hotel quality (not gambling or location), which of these would you pick?

Thanks in advance for the input, guys. 'Reasons' why/why-not would be great too.

Kind of a tough one....many love Caesars rooms but others may be able to give insight on that particular one. We've not stayed there because we don't care for the casino and long walk to strip. Not sure upgrades are easy to get there either. The Fab Deluxe at Flam is pretty nice and friends have liked those. Location is good too. Now - Bally's seems to be one of the easiest to get free upgrades and you could possibly end up in a new Jubliee room in the south tower with a view. The rooms at Bally's are larger that others too. We have found the service level and friendliness of the staff at Bally's is higher than others too. Good luck and hope you have a great trip!

Bally's for sure. (Although I don't think the Jubilee rooms will be ready, you still might be able to get an upgrade with $20.) I spent a lot of time in the casino last week and it still has a friendly, non-pretentious vibe and good low limits. Plus you're a skip and a jump from Paris, one more skip and jump from PH, Cosmo, and Bellagio.

On the other hand, the Flamingo was a mess...

Your going to get someone to vote for every one of those options except maybe for The Quad. A few people will poke fun of The Quad, and then at least one person will come in and defend it as a viable option. Seriously, that's how it goes. Flamingo it seems people either love or hate. Me personally I've heard that the Caesars Roman tower rooms are pretty shabby however there is a pretty decent chance of upgrading to a Forum tower room at the front desk which I will take any day over the other options. I hear upgrading to a Flamingo GO room is also pretty easy, but not only can I not speak from experience at Flamingo, I also have a hard time believing them given how the GO rooms NEVER show up as comped on my calendar.

I will offer this advice though: Don't go just by your "offers". Log into the TR website and check the rate calendar for the time of your visit. You will often get better rates than your "offers". Also, tell the reservation page that your companion has a TR number and put in your Son's TR# and you will very likely see even better rates/comps than with just your own. If he doesn't have a TR account yet I believe you can get one online and even that one (without any play history) might improve what you see on the rate calendar when you include it with yours.

Sorry if this is info you already know but reading your post sounded like maybe you were just going by "offers" which for me are always inferior to the rate calendar.

It really depends when you go... there are some really busy times in Sept. If you are arriving mid-week, your chances of an upgrade are better regardless of which one you choose.

I've stayed at about all of them and now usually stay at the Flamingo. The FAB rooms are recently renovated (altho not the bathroom so much) and are pretty nice. I think the beds are harder than the GO rooms, so i only stay in the GO room with it's soft bed. Otherwise, the Fab rooms are fine. I've had good luck with the service at the Flamingo as well.

You might check on your calendar on the CET website and see if you can get the Forum room at Caesars comped, alot of times you can if you can get the Roman Tower one comped. I've no interest at all in a Roman tower room but really enjoyed the Forum Tower.

My stay at Bally's was fine. Room was clean and basic.

I think it's really up to you and how much effect the room will have on your quality of vacation. For me, the room greatly affects the quality of my vacation but for others, not so much. You should also think about where you might be spending most of your time and book the room accordingly. I like to play at the Flamingo but booked rooms at Caesars on several trips. It was a real hassle, and not worth the nicer room, the haul across the strip whenever I wanted to play.

    Enjoy!

Check the rate calendar. Paris s/b free also (at least Sun-Th) and gives you a little nicer and still access to Bally's low limits

Either Ballys or Caesars, IF you're able to upgrade out of the Roman Tower. My North Tower room at Ballys was clean and very roomy. I've stayed at Caesars but in the Augustus Tower, which in my opinion blows away any other non-suite in the CET system. As others have mentioned, check the rate calendar instead of your offers, and you'll probably find more comped choices. There's a good chance you can get Forum Tower at Caesars comped, and then your chances of getting a complimentary upgrade to the Palace, Augutus, or Octavius Tower is pretty good. Some people on this board give Caesars a hard time because of it's monumental overall size (it is large), but in my opinion it's by far the most luxurious CET choice. We loved our stay there.

I'd take Bally's unless you can get a better tower comped at Caesars.

Having stayed in all the above rooms, I would say Bally's North Tower is still the best on a "room quality" issue with a tie between Flamingo Fab and Roman tower.

The reason I give a tie to CP and Flamingo room is basically the bath room and finish.
Although the Fab rooms got a makeover they re-purposed much of the furniture and the bath only got a paint job and counter top upgrade.

Now the Roman tower rooms have had soft goods updated (bed spreads, pillows, etc) but alot of these rooms are worn. Some are being addressed as needed. Also the views in the Roman tower are not so hot.

The refurb'd rooms at Rio are not bad in Ipanema tower. They got new furniture and t.v.'s around 2008, so they are pretty decent shape. The rest of the Rio is another story. In a nutshell here is how the rooms rank based on your list.

    1) Ballys North Tower
    2)Flamingo Fab (Tie)
    2) CP Roman Tower (Tie)
    3) Rio Deluxe
    4) Harrahs Deluxe (Try to get Marti Gras Tower)
    5) Quad

As others have said, look at the rate calender. On the same page it will show the room as Roman Tower.........click the next link and it will say Forum Tower. The Roman and Forum Tower are both comped, you just need to book Caesars after you click Forum Tower which will then be on your confirmation #. That's what i did, then when checking in you can do the $20 sandwich to upgrade if you want. The Forum Tower rooms are fine (i'll be there in 10 days), but might upgrade to Palace rooms because it's closer to the pool.
The Roman Tower rooms are just Motel 6, but the Forum Tower rooms, although smaller than the Palace, Augustus, and Octavius, have been re-done and have a TV in the bathroom mirror....LOL. I'm going solo so the size of the room doesn't matter to me but in this case the location (closer to the pool, as opposed to the Forum which is closer to the casino) is important since it will be August.

Also, check the rates on the TR website without signing in to see the non-TR member rates - this will give you a baseline of what the rooms cost and see which rooms 'costs most' of your comp'ed rooms (hope this makes sense)

The forum tower is not really that far from the pool area. Just come out of the elevator bank, make a right, make another immediate right into the walkway/shopping area next to the palace towers, go up the 5 stairs and you are there. It is about a 3-4 minute walk total and the pool entrance will be on your left. It will put you right next to the palace tower elevators right in front of the pool entrance.

since you normally stay downtown you should stay at ceasars. it has the best atmosphere of any cet casino with maybe Planet Hollywood second. try to get an upgrade that is what im doing and i am booked to stay there soon. but the casino is fun and has high rollers and low rollers and lots of restaurants and people having fun. plus you are right next door to bellagio and city center close by and mirage on the other side.

Are your stays within the last year or less? Ballys North Tower are good.
    Things have changed all over.

Thanks. 2 rights, 5 stairs, entrance to my left. May be worth keeping the Forum Rooms. I presume the shopping area is Appian Way...........would i look funny dripping wet back to my Forum room in the high rent district?. OK, don't answer that.

you shouldnt walk in the casino without drying off yourself and putting clothes on after getting out of the pool, its against the rules and also very low class looking when someone does that. :nono:

Thanks for all of the input!
Got another question - the 'resort fees'...do those apply on comped nights, or are they part of the comp?
I just want to be able to warn my son, especially if we end up doing two 'Forum Tower' rooms at Caesar's (they are showing only 1 king for these rooms, with a $25 per night resort fee). So, if the fee applies, that's $150 for the trip.
Bally's is $18 per night, and their available comped rooms include "North Tower Deluxe 2 Queens" - so, we'd only need one room - that's only $54 for the trip.
If the resort fee does not apply, then we'll each get our own 'Forum Tower' room.
Otherwise, I'll book the Bally's deal.

Yes, the resort fee will apply unless you're Platinum or higher with CET.
