This is sad but also funny. San Fran TV station, so not somewhere in a small market that might not have resources to fact check. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/L1JYHNX8pdo?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

My father held a high-level position at this station for 20 years... he's rollin' over in his grave... they pride themselves in accurate and quality reporting. I admit, when my son played the video for me the other night, we laughed like hell! I can't believe the anchor got through the names without catching-on. I also agree the apology was a bit much... apparently Asiana Airlines is considering legal action against KTVU-2 (Oakland) for damaging their reputation. I think they pilots, whatever their names are, took care of that with their actions.
that is pretty hilarious actually. you know the funny thing is I actually know a guy named Phuc and you get weird looks when you yell across the room to get his attention ...
I can't stop laughing the fact that were able to read these names with straight face. The funny thing is the names are in sequence on how the crash went down.
You don't need much of a budget, just a single employee in the chain with common sense, an IQ over 80 and/or the ability to read copy in English. Not surprised a San Fran station failed on all three counts. Les Nessman would have caught it. Hell, CNN's Mole Host, sponsored by Lipton, or even Katie or Soledad would have caught it by the third name. Television news = A low information product for a low information populace.

All respect to those killed and injured in the crash of course, but how in the heck can a grown woman read names like that and NOT catch on. Mrs. Ron Burgundy. And whoever typed those names INTO the teleprompter is almost as much to blame. Someone needs to cultivate a brain cell at that station, because WOW. And then to try and deflect the screw up to someone at the NTSB when the information is that clearly bogus, I mean come on, really???
