If you plan on visiting the Flamingo in the near future, please read this note from a property representative:

"In connection with plumbing repairs at the Flamingo Las Vegas, the resort has temporarily closed its Food Court. Flamingo employees are directing patrons to nearby food and beverage areas that are open and serving guests.

Early Monday morning, July 15, the Flamingo's Cabaret Theater, nearby restrooms and X Bar also will be temporarily closed until the maintenance activity permits reopening these areas.

Hotel guest rooms located above the north casino are being rebooked at nearby resorts for guest arrivals beginning Sunday, July 14. The timetable for reopening affected areas will be determined as the work progresses.

Performances of comedian Vinnie Favorito and X Burlesque will not be presented beginning July 15 through completion of the repair. The Flamingo Box Office is assisting guests with refunds, re-scheduling tickets for a later date or substituting tickets to an alternate show.

'We apologize for the inconvenience to our employees and guests,' said Gary Thompson, spokesperson for the Flamingo. 'We will reopen affected guest service areas as soon as we can.'”

Most or maybe all of Paradise NV, aka The Strip has never been connected to any conventional sewer system. I don't know the reasons for this. it could be because they knew it would be under a constant state of major construction and flux. It could be that maybe Las Vegas just couldn't handle it or they couldn't agree on who would pay for it.

They actually bring in a fleet of trucks and pump it out around 3a.m. The Flamingo has always had a problem. At times you can smell it all over the strip but the area around the front desk area of flamingo can get bad, This isn't surprising. they won't be able to clean that food court enough for me to eat in it again.

What happened? Pipes explode shit everywhere?!?

Thanks for the heads up though. I am flying in from Germany on Sunday. I just called and my reservation has not yet been changed. Depending on the smell when I arrive I may want it to.

Very interesting. I was there June 19-27 and our party mentions numberous times about the smell of raw sewerage along the strip area from Flamingo to PH. At that time the Flamingo had only closed the Diamond lounge due to plumbing problems.

Damn, learn something new every day. I googled this subject and you are correct. Paradise has over 11,000 septic tanks that need to be pumped on a regular basis. I never knew that.

The last time a sewer system was proposed and rejected was 1993.

At least there is not much to miss in that food court. While I like many things about the Flamingo, the food court is not one of them. It has provided minimal sustenance to me once or twice at about 1:00am though.:vomit:

Interesting about the septic systems / lack of sewers, as I never was aware of that either.

Isn't Carnival partners with CET. Sewage issues made me think of SNL's skit regarding the Carnival Triumph. See: http://www.hulu.com/watch/457654. Is there dookey on the walls.

Just for accuracy's sake, CET is partnered with NCL.

Well that explains it.... We arrived in Vegas Sat Jul 6 and nothing was amiss at Flamingo, in fact we ate pizza in the food court late night. Went back on Tuesday and the food court and the bathrooms across from it were not just closed but boarded over. We were wondering what was up, but since we were not staying there we did not spend much time worrying about it.

Oh man, Sinatra you brought back a memory from about 20 years ago of a vile sewage smell that was coming from around Flamingo (not that it does not happen at other locations, it does). This one was the worst, people were scooting as fast as they could from the area, nasty!

Looks like I picked the right time to break my Flaming-O streak and stay at PHo and Ballys.

We stayed there July 6-10. It closed up overnight. We ate there twice before they closed up. They let us know it was plumbing related.

It did become a bit of an inconvenience because I got my coffee and a breakfast sandwhich there in the a.m.

Plus, the big deal was the bathrooms. Those were the most convenient by far.

We were walking through Imperial Palace a couple years ago. Apparently some air lock in the sewer system caused the depths of hell to arise to street level. This happened directly in front of IP and the odor wafted into the front part of the Casino, people were literally running like the building was falling in. It continueds to be one of the most bizarre experiences I have ever witnessed. We ran as well, I cannot even explain the odor.

I am going to Harrah's in August. I enjoy the central bar at Flamingo. Should I avoid it?
