Just got back from 5 day trip where we stayed at the Bellagio. Had great time as usual. We decided to splurge this time and stayed in a Bellagio suite. Very nice but pretty expensive. We want to return in October and other than visiting other hotel's casinos on the strip we aren't very familiar with them overall. All my previous trips have been to the Bellagio.

For our next trip we are hoping to find something a little less expensive without being a dump ( not even sure if dumps exist on the strip). Prefer some place that is an MGM property because I think we will get a night or two comped, although not totally locked into that. Looking for decent rooms, nice moderately priced restaurants and a a good bar or two.

    Suggestions would be appreciated

Seeing as you're acquainted with the Bellagio, I wouldn't recommend going anywhere below the MGM Grand/Mirage/Mandalay Bay tier of properties. Anything less could be a shock to your system. But you can't go wrong with any of the three in that tier.

Mandalay Bay, particularly THEhotel. It is changing over to a Delano later this year, early next year. I imagine that rates are going to skyrocket once that change is complete, though.

As already mentioned, I'd consider MGM/Mandalay/Mirage. I've stayed at all three and they are all pretty nice and reasonably price - of course that also depends on when you are going, but still will be less than Bellagio.

Loved it when we stayed at Aria MDW 2011. Got a crazy package through Southwest airlines for that one. The only other one on that side of the strip we stayed at was Monte Carlo which was good for us. Another great Southwest package deal

Since the soon to be Mrs. and myself are not high rollers out there, more pool/clubs with low end slots and table play to take up the time between activities, we get comped all the time through Total Rewards and since that's centrally located on the strip and free....sold.

It depends what your looking for. Is the pool area important you you? If not i would go with Vdara who is connected to Bellagio but there standard rooms is better then Bellagios imo.

Also look into if you can find a good deal at Aria for your dates. If you do just go ahead and book it since its the best mgm has to offer.

Appreciate all the suggestions from you and everyone else. Pool normally is important to use but we usually rent either the cabana or day chair at the Cypress when we've stayed at the Bellagio, but I doubt it will be that big of deal for us in October. I'm not sure what to expect in temperatures and I doubt we'll want to pay this time around for an upgraded pool as neither of us are big fans of pools with lots of kids. I'm older (55) so doubt I would fit in with the pool scenes at Mandalay Bay.

The pool "scene" at MB tends to be at certain times. I would think Oct is way more laid back. And, day of the week would be a variant.

My first suggestion is M-Bay. Second would be Aria.

The wife and I stayed at Mandalay Bay over New Year's and it was fantastic. We normally stay at Bellagio and Mandalay really stands up to the others in the category. Great hotel all around in my opinion and the pools weren't even open.
