    Just got back from Vegas.

The shortcut that everyone uses to get to/from Main Street Station/California is gone. It was partially walled off on July 3rd/4th. They finished the job July 5th.

You now have to enter/exit through the center door on Main Street if you want to cut through Las Vegas Club. The doors fronting the Cal on the corner are locked.

more reason to skip visiting the LVC now. these guys are trying to do everything they can to close it down. So, if they ever reopen their rooms, how do you get from the front desk over to the south tower? go around the block? or I guess you have to take the north tower elevator to the second floor or another floor with a pass through? I just hope that they are closing it off because they are renovating the place but sadly we never know what these clowns are doing to the place. This is JMHO but I hope someone buys up the hotel and brings it back.

    Thanks for the update.

Headed to MSS 7/25, and that was my customary route.

Another option is to go through Binion's, out the back, northwest corner door (by the unused poker room), and cross over to the back, southeast corner door of the Cal.

I went through LVC to MSS buffet this weekend if you enter the LVC on Fremotn you can walk back they have built walls or something to block the back area but it still takes you through to the MSS and CAL, unless it has changed since this weekend.

I use that Binion's shortcut a lot, but usually when coming back to FSE from the Cal.

Wow, and I finally got to use that for the first time not but a few weeks ago.

LVC is prime for a takeover and renovation. I'd love to see what the Stevens brothers could do with it. It's a shame they are building that stupid zip line tower in front of it though. Terrible...

If the weather was bad we used to use that route, but I got so depressed walking through there in the last few years, we just walk through Cal cross the street into the back door of Binions. I remember the Las Vegas Club, the sportsbook in back and all the sports memorabilia that USED to be in there.

However, except for the heat sometimes, the weather is rarely bad in Vegas and we usually just walk down Main Street from MSS to get to Fremont Street.

At the end of May I walked through the back of LVC a few times on the way to/from MSS. Seeing the old slot machines piled up was an odd site in Vegas, but even more would have to be the bar in the back. The machines looked to not have been used or even touched in years while the player card readers were still in operation. Odd place that LVC.

I've walked that path from the Cal to the back door of Binions probably a thousand times. Really tough to see the LVC going down. I've stayed there countless times including eating in the UpperDeck restaurant to close a Vegas day.

Loved that Upper Deck breakfast with Portuguese sausage!

    Also, entertaining clientele at times!

The shortcut from Binion's to the Cal is a no go due to major street work. Had to walk the length of the building to enter thru the garage. No idea how long that entrance to the Cal will be closed.

It's time to sell or close when the number one feature visitors cite about your property is the ability to walk through it to reach a preferred destination.

Yeah, They closed the entrance into the CAL on Ogden/1st street this past Monday as they tore up the sidewalk fronting that entrance. Looks like they are building a new sidewalk, handicap accessible ramps at the intersection as well as other curb improvements. A real big mess.

    Just returned on the 12th....

Having just returned, I can report that there still is a functional shortcut from the Cal to Binion's. The doors at the Ogden/1st street intersection are taped off, but the small set of doors at the Cal just before the small flight of stairs to the corner entrance are usable. Just go out those doors and follow the little walkway outside made of Jersey barriers to the corner of Ogden and 1st, and cross diagonally to Binion's.

Its funny that you mentioned this. My wife and I were there a week before and they were doing drywall work around there and we were wondering what it was for LOL. Now we know.

We sometimes use the other Cal entrance when coming from MSS and then cut through the back of Binions. Now that they've done this we really wont ever give LVC business. They just need to sell it to Boyd already, maybe then it will be run properly!

Maybe I'm missing something, but, this tells me that the relationship between Boyd and Tamares/Barrick has changed. I agree its likely another bad omen for Vegas Club.

Now I'm missing something. The OP was just talking about crossing the street and entering the back door of Vegas Club. What does that have to do with Boyd?:confused2:
