    Those bastards! Another one falls.

    By my research, this leaves only the following Strip and near-Strip properties

    * Clarion
    * Casino Royale
    * Best Western Mardi Gras
    * Super 8 (Koval Ln.)

    which do NOT charge any sort of resort fee.

    Guess I'll be staying downtown and off-Strip...! I HATE RESORT FEES!!!

    (edit: see http://www.vegas.com/incl/resortfees.html for a very comprehensive list)

    I detest resort fees but look at the total price. The Gold Coast charges $3.00 and now Terrible's /Sliver Sevens. How Silver Sevens can justify a resort fee and $3.00 at that. I could see $ 1-2 at the most.

    While resort fees aren't great, I consider fees under $10 (definitely under $5) as annoyances, not deal breakers. The worst resort fees are expensive fees at 2-3 star properties.

    $22 Monte Carlo
    $20 Flamingo, Harrahs, Luxor, NYNY, Rio
    $17 Excalibur, Palace Station, Riviera
    $15 Boulder Station, Stratosphere

    These hotels focus on the budget conscious traveler most impacted by a high resort fee as a percentage of room cost.

    Fees in the $3-$6 range at similar accommodations are annoying but do not come close to a full night room cost over a standard trip.

    A $28 resort fee at a 5 star is also more reasonable in terms of the quality of the resort, the percentage in terms of the nightly room cost and the fact that these resorts are not for the budget traveler.

    You want to prevent a slippery slope (I believe Palace / Boulder Station and the Riviera started off as a few bucks but have crept upwards throughout the past decade) but $3-$5 in a market where comparable properties charge 3 to 5 times as much is reasonable, IMO.

    Yeah the Orleans has been charging $6.

    While I don't like it in principal. It's not a deal breaker either.

    Though Silver Sevens does have free computer use 24 hours. I just feel that Silver Sevens can't justify the $3.00 fee versus the Gold Coast.The Gold Coast shuttle service is great compared to Silver Sevens. Plus the GC is across the street from the Palms and Rio.

    Well, Bernie ... for those who do like to stay at "S.S." (Terrible's), the free computer use would be worth the $3 all by itself.

    Might have just hit my price point there. If Boyd charged $3 for wifi, I'd pay that, but not $9.95 they currently charge.

    I know, I know, I'm playing $5 a hand VP, but refuse to spend $10 for wifi. Don't say it.:poke:

    If Super 8 introduced a resort fee...just the having the word "resort" associated with Super 8. That's entertainment value right there.

    You have to recompute comparisons with Gold Coast as of Aug 1. It will have a resort fee of 11.18.

    I would assume so yeah, but haven't been yet to know for sure. I won't be back til the first week of September but it'll be one of my first stops after McCarran. If you think of it, please stop by the thread again and let me know about new chips since you'll make it there first.

    Although I HATE resort fees like many people, unfortunately they are here to stay:Þ. For me personally, I was a little disappointed in the Boyd Coast Casinos increasing their fees, but like another poster said, I look at anything $10/day and under as a mild annoyance. Of course, if I had some free room comps:licklips: where the "resort fee" was in the $20/night range, I wouldn't mind because at my level of play (and income), I would never get a chance to stay in fancy rooms. And from what I hear, some comped rooms will waive the resort fee. But more importantly, if I have to pay a resort fee, I like to get value and stuff that I actually use for the price (ahem, GN:nono:)
