    My Trip Report

Pre-Trip : I had 3 wins prior to my trip even starting. First, I scored 4 Southwest drink coupons from a woman at my CrossFit gym who is in the FBI, and says she doesn’t drink. I had just run out of coupons my last trip, so the timing of this was perfect. Second, I scored boarding position A28. Finally, I found out I only owed $500 for a past marker where I thought I had $1500 outstanding – that win added $1000 to my trip budget!

Left work at 4:30pm, and was through checkin and security at the SLC airport by 5:00. That was record time! And I sat down at Cat Cora’s restaurant and was drinking my first Hops Rising 9% alcohol beer by 5:15pm. Had one more beer and a pita/hummus dish and was off to boarding. The last 3 times I took the same flight, it has been late. This time, we left ON TIME!

I got my window seat, and then it happened…a young couple with a baby sat down next to me. Ugh! I’m 43, and have never even held a baby, and every baby I’ve ever seen or been near has started crying. Fortunately, this baby was pretty cool and it just smiled and ate and did not interfere with the good start to my trip. Of course, the 2 shots of vodka and soda I had on the plane helped, too!

I arrived in Vegas and quickly found the Bellagio limo driver with my name on his iPad.  I did get tunneled in the limo, but I still got to Bellagio rather quickly. Tipped him a $20 and I was off to VIP checkin. I went right to the checkin bartender and ordered a Grey Goose and soda with lemon. Now, the past 4 times I’ve stayed at Bellagio, those stuck up checkin biatches always tell me there’s no Fountain View available, even though my hosts tell me they reserve that type of room. Well, this time, I got in line, expecting another fight, but low and behold, a room with a Fountain View, right off the elevators, was ready with my name on it!

This was the first time I’ve gone up to my room at Bellagio feeling pretty good, not at all angry from the checkin experience. Now, the drinks were definitely setting in. My plan was to go over to Aria and eat at Lemongrass and then take out a marker and bring the money back to Bellagio to play. I grabbed only $300 to take with me on my way, and somehow got sidetracked in Bellagio and dumped the $300 into some $1 machine. So, now I only had $1 bills for tips.

I succeeded in getting to Aria, and ate some Chicken Satay at Lemongrass, along with one of those watermelon/vodka drinks they make that are really yummy. Then I went to take the marker, but somehow got sidetracked in the Aria high limit room. Fortunately, the results were this $3200 jackpot: Yay!
    3200 - Aria.jpg

I also played some $5 Pinball and hit 105 credits ($525) in the bonus:
    Pinball - Aria.jpg

I stopped at the Aria View Bar to say hello to Robert the bartender and I had a Diva cocktail. Drink #7!

Then I went to Cosmo, where I had to payback a marker from my last trip. I wasn’t planning on playing at Cosmo, but I had $$ on me from the win at Aria, and I got dragged into playing this $1 Black Widow game where I was betting $30 a spin. Fortunately, I had some ok hits (not great hits for a $30 bet, but at least something)

My next stop was to have a milkshake at Holstein’s. I had never heard of this place, but had happened upon the menu. I got the Birthday Cake milkshake in a to-go cup. Drink #8. Yummy! Birthday Cake vodka that tasted just like vanilla birthday cake. 

I somehow made it back to Bellagio. Now is when things get fuzzy. I think I stashed some cash up in my room and went back to play some video poker at the bartops near the Baccarat Bar. I remember having some words with the bartenders at the bartops as they wouldn’t give me the kind of vodka I wanted. (Drinks #9, 10, 11???) I remember flashing my Noir card and losing about $400 at that bartop. Disgusted with the attitude of those bartenders and sucky play at the bartops, I went and played $1 Jade Elephant at $20 a spin. I think I made back the $ I lost at the bartops with a $660 win in the bonus round. No picture.

Then I met some guy, not sure how, who walked me way into the back of the Baccarat room where they have food and drinks. I kept thinking we’d be kicked out of there, as I’ve never played Baccarat before and this guy was just a local who plays poker and VP. But we managed to get a few more cocktails and had some pretty good shrimp/fried rice/chocolate covered strawberries and cookies!

That was the end to night one. Gotta keep some things private!

    Day 2 – July 4th:
I counted my cash and I was up $400 from the $933 I’d brought to Vegas. Winning!
I got up early (10:30am) and went down to eat at Bellagio Café. Had a very nice breakfast:
    Bellagio Cafe - breakfast.jpg

Then I went to Petrossian Bar and had a few mojitos:

I walked over to Harrah’s to meet some friends from Slot Fanatics. I’d never been in Harrah’s. We walked around and I was shown where to get the $1 Michelob’s at Casino Royale! Think I had 4 of those. My friends and I hung out at Palazzo and went in the Gold Lounge. We played some bartops at Palazzo and I lost $100 – but I got a free beer. My friends took me out to Grimaldi’s for pizza and it was delicious! Had a few more beers then we saw this festive looking female:

We ended up back at Casino Royale to indulge in 2 more beers (I think at this point, I was up to drink #12 for the day) and while there, the guy from Bellagio the night before just happened to walk by. I introduced him to my friends, and we parted ways. I went back to Bellagio with the local dude and I think at this point things are a bit fuzzy. I wanted to see the fireworks. He was hungry. We went over to Cosmo and I got quads on a $1.25 bet, up $100. We went to Planet Hollywood and shared a sandwich. Then we saw the fireworks. Boy was it HOT!! And boy did everyone smell. I’d never smelled so much B.O. in my life! The fireworks were lame. At this point, I was really tired from drinking all day. Last thing I remember was standing in my room watching 4 or 5 of the last Fountain shows and singing…..and falling asleep a bit after midnight. 

    Day 3 – July 5:
Even – still have the $933 I came to Vegas with. Not sure where I lost $400 the day before, but that’s ok.
Woke up feeling kinda crappy. Showered and headed to Bally’s to use my $30 freeplay and $20 food credit. Had a really good chicken salad and cole slaw at Le Burger Brasserie at Paris. Cashed out $30.25 on my freeplay.

Headed back to Bellagio and lost the $30. Had 2 mojitos at Petrossian Bar. Headed up to my room to grab some cash. Played some VP for well over an hour and had some hits, but lost $400:
    Bellagio - VP1.jpg
    Bellagio - VP 2.jpg

Then back for more mojitos. Then back up to the room for the last $500. Lost the $500.

Now it’s time to trek to Aria for a marker. First stop, View Bar for a Diva. Then I took out $1000 and proceeded to lose it pretty darn quick. Then I took out another $1000 and moved back to the Double Strike machine that was so nice to me on Day 1, and cranked it up to $50 a spin. Fortunately, I had good results - a 2k win!:
    ARIA - 2k - 1.jpg

I paid back the $2k in markers and was going to move on, but played maybe 2more spins and hit again for another $2k!:
    ARIA - 2k - 2.jpg

Now, I’m in the money. I’m up $1600 for my trip.

I see that the new pizza place is open at Aria. I wait in line for a slice and talk to a nice looking guy. He offers to buy my slice, and I say “no”. Then he whips out 6 or 7 $25,000 chips and I say, “sure, you can buy my pizza!” He claims even though he has more money than I make in a year on him, he’s supposedly down $750,000. He said he plays poker and that he’s been staying at Aria for 3 months?!

Regardless, he then wants to see where I had won the 2 jackpots. We go back in the Aria high limit room, and I show him the machine. We also notice that someone has just hit $80,000 playing DDB at $500 a spin! It was some nice guy from Florida who was in town celebrating his 50th birthday. This poker guy convinces the DDB winner to go partners with him on 6 spins. They both put in $1500 and spun it 6 times, and won, $0! Oh well, that’s slots/VP for ya. Oh, and the pizza was okay – not as salty as Cosmo Secret Pizza, but it was kinda cold. They need a way to serve the slices hotter and if they get that working, I’d recommend it over Secret Pizza, although for $5.50 a slice, it’s kinda pricey.

I parted ways with the $25,000 chip man, and went back to Bellagio.

I had a ticket to see "O" at 7:30pm, so I somehow made it to the show, got a $16 Pink Lemonade frozen vodka drink and popcorn and took in the show. Kinda sobered up during that time and felt kinda shitty afterwards.

Went up to my room and rallied back by drinking the 2 vodkas from the mini-bar with a Recovery RockStar Lemondade drink! :)

I stored my winnings from earlier in the day, and took out $500 for the evening. I met up with the guy from the last 2 nights and we went over to Bally’s Tequila and Taco bar and drank beer. Played a little VP at PH and then called it an early night, stopping once again in the Baccarat room and eating some shrimp, rice and chocolate covered strawberries.

    Day 4 – July 6th:
Woke up and was feeling kinda ok. Counted my $ and I was still up $1500 for the trip!
I got ready and went down to see the Andy Warhol exhibit at Bellagio. It was ok.
Grabbed a croissant and piece of quiche for breakfast. Carb loading after 3 days of basically just drinking a ton of booze.
Checked my bill online and saw my host comped everything except the tips. Yay!
I’ve fallen into a routine in Vegas – on my last day, I watch a movie in my room. I saw “Promised Land”
with Matt Damon. It was pretty good.
Checked out at 4:30pm and caught the limo back to the airport at 5pm.

One last final bit of luck, won $540 on Droid Hunt at the airport!:
    Airport - 540.jpg
    Airport - 540 - 2.jpg

Final trip result – up $1800.

    Next trip will be 7/19 – 7/22 at PH and Cosmo. 8/16 – 8/19 – ARIA. 8/30 – 9/3 – MGM Grand.

Getting tunneled IS the quicker way to go. It's just the longer route, and therefore more expensive when you're in a cab. But in a limo where you're not paying by the mile, it's irrelevant.
