I told my cranky old male cousin that I stayed at the Quad hotel that used to be the Imperial Palace. He told me that very low class people stay there and that I shouldn't have stayed there as a solo single senior because it is not a safe place to stay there.

I told my cousin that it was a good hotel to stay at and that my room was nice because it only cost me $20. per night and $10. Resort fee.

I saw lots of nice people around the hotel and also saw a lot of security workers around the hotel.

My favorite bar was the Catalisyt Bar. The area is brand new and nice and clean with great entertainers that are free to look at.

Plus the hotel is right in the heart of the LV Strip. Next door was the Flamingo and on the other side was Harrahs hotel. Across the street is Caesars Palace Hotel.

I had fun shopping at their stores and bought me a beautiful LV cap.

My room was bland looking but it was spacious and had a new king bed and a new flat screen t.v. The people who stayed there were nice and quiet. I hardly saw them. I also had a view of the strip which is the most important thing for me.

I don't plan to tell my cousin anything anymore since he is so negative and would not let me explain that the Quad hotel is different than the old Imperial Palace that he used to know. Times have changed.

This hotel is for people who really want to save money on hotel and resort fees.
My room was not beautiful but it was clean and affordable like a Motel 8 room.lol.

Plenty of people poo poo me when I tell them that I am staying downtown, or the tripicana, even CC, but I don't care. They respond that they stay at XXXX or they won't go; so they stay home and I've been 19 times. I am even less demanding than you, Lucy. I don't care about a view.....not a bit. I likie quiet, clean and safe.I like to stay in an area that is convenient for what I am going to do, that is clean, reasonably priced and safe. That being said I have paid less than $20/NIGHT during my last several trips and I generally stay 9 days/8 nights. I don't care if people like the strip or downtown, fancy casinos or whatever. I like what I do and don't care if you like it or not. Everyone has prioiries so stay where yu get a good deal and feel comfortable and don't worry what your cousin or anyone else says or things. They can stay where they want I they go.

Has your cousin ever stayed at the Quad? Many people like to put down the Quad but have never stayed there on even set foot inside the place.

Don't worry about what others have to say about anything in Vegas. Find out for yourself.Remember, nobody is forcing anybody to stay at the Quad or any place else in Vegas. Stay where you want to stay.

wife and I have stayed at the old Ip at least half a dozen times and were ok with it for what we paid.

the balcony that opens is a nice extra when weather is nice.

I agree with jimbo that if the room is decent clean and good location that`s good enough.

I am like you Lucy, I really have no beefs with The Quad. To each his own, but I'm not looking for decadence in Las Vegas. I hardly spend a minute in my room beyond sleeping, so to me, thats a waste of money. I find their rooms to be adequate for my expectations.

I love the new look of the casino and can't wait until its all complete. The Quad has been my home base the past couple of trips, and I don't see that changing, if I stay on The Strip. (downtown is still where my heart is)

I appreciate hearing there actually are others that like The Quad!

I saw the most puzzling thing at the Quad last week. We went to try out the often talked about Hash House (which was very underwhelming by the way) and noticed the longest check-in line I've ever seen in my life. People were camped out sitting on the ground and on their luggage in every corner of the registration area. I couldn't believe anyone would wait through that.

They had a door to a room on one side for Diamond/Seven Star checkin. Then on the other side they had a desk for GOLD/Platinum checkin! That desk only had like 5 people in line! Gold is the card you get for free when you sign up. Anyone from the other line could have just signed up for a card right there and then used the Gold line and saved a ton of time. But they weren't doing that.

It confused the hell out of me.

    wow that`s nuts!

boy would I be pissed if I had to go thru that to check in.

must be a lot of first timers checking in at quad to not be wise to the gold checkin line.

leaving tonite for thr d and checking in at bally`s sunday. hope for better luck than that.

My last checkin at the Quad was the easiest ever, partly thanks to that line. I got a room that fulfilled my numerous requests within 5 minutes because no one was in that line to begin with. :evillaugh 90%+ of people don't even think about using it and/or they don't have a TR card.

Flamingo had this for gold members last year too, and it was the same way. Barely anyone used it. And the line was bad at Flamingo by that point, so it saved us an hour at least! But the Flamingo TR line isn't for gold members anymore though. :(

I agree with your cousin, but Quad "bashing" is against the rules here, so I'll leave it at that.

I stayed at Imperial Palace many times, and once at the newly named Quad.
    -Good crash pad
    -Great location
-Good price (before they started the resort fee nonsense)
-Gambling offerings pretty much suck though

Consider myself lucky as I never waited more than 20 minutes to check-in; but I observed lines that seem 2+ hours long at times.

In all the times me or my family have stayed at the Quad/IP, we've never had any troubles. I know what to expect.

When they renamed it to The Quad what did they change?

Did they redo the rooms at all? If so, I would have no problem staying there as long as my room itself is clean, especially for the price...

I am staying at Bally's for the first time next month primarily due to location, but I always had the mindset that if you are spending more than an hour in the room outside of sleeping you are doing Vegas wrong! :)

    The Quad Hotel

I think the Quad Hotel is attracting a lot of new customers that don't know about the about the GOLD CARD REWARDS. This is why the line was always short.

I have tried in the past to tell the people in line to get a free gold card so they can get into the shorter line of the Gold cards people. But they don't always trust me
with the information that I give them. So they stay in the long line.
Some do trust me and jump at the chance to get into the short line. That has been my experience.

I still think the Quad Hotel is in a great location and has the best rates for being located in the heart of Vegas.

I don't like the idea of having to pay a large resort fee so I look for the cheapest
    resort fees.

Just made a 5 night reservation at Quad through Groupon link on here 13 a night. I got credit card so I am Platnium so I can get resort fees wave.
Say what you want about the quad I love the location and much rather spend my money on other things than a room. Find me a better room anywhere for
13 a night. Other than comp rooms this is the best deal going.

Thanks for the good information, I have been staying at the Gold C. and the 4 Queens with a night here and there. So this just might be another option for me.

The are working on casino renovations. The rooms have been untouched as of yet. The rooms I have had there have been satisfactory in terms of cleanliness, but it's quite obvious the rooms are pretty old and worn down.

Any idea if there is plans to renovate the rooms this year? If so, I'm totally fine being a guinea pig in the new year for them. Might end up being a steal if you can book a cheap rate and get a newly redone room!

    Free wifi at Quad hotel

Hello Volfaninbama, They do have a Platinum check in too. Don't forget to ask for the code for using the wifi in your hotel room.

The Quad resort fee only gives free wifi and free local phone calls. I had fun using my computer every day. I made a phone call for the shuttle company to pick me up when it was time for me to go home.

The beds are new and the t.v. was new. The towels were plush. It had a coffee maker with coffee supplies. The room was clean and didn't smell.
The whole is beige light colors on the walls and furniture. The room had lots of electrical plugs all over the room. That is nice for people who need them. LucyR.

From the impression I got from the Catalyst Bar bartenders that I talked with, it wouldn't be until after casino renovations/Linq was complete (i.e. 2014 at the earliest). And keep in mind, this is just employee "insider gossip", there hasn't been anything publicly official about this as of yet.
