Hi, Any news on the progress of the new zip line on Freemont St There are four of us girls going to Vegas in September and two are newbies. Hubby and I always stay downtown and love it and I hope Slotzilla isn't going to ruin their experience. Thanks in advance.

The construction of SlotZilla is not ruining Fremont Street. I was there a few weeks ago and there are walkways around the site. It was no big deal.

Besides, SlotZilla should be completed next month.

I stayed downtown for 5 days and came home Wednesday. Construction was no big deal. Don't worry about construction on Fremont.

We recently spent eight nites in LV, three of them at GN. When we were DT we did not find the construction a big deal. Before we left, we had read a number of posts about how bad Fremont was because of the construction, but we did not find it a big deal at all. Different people seem to see it differently.

    Another contraption on Fremont St.?

I was downtown 6/20-6/22 and it looks like they are building another zipline thing in between the Golden Gate and Las Vegas Club. Not sure what it's going to be but it's big and IMO takes away from the casinos.
What's the word on this contraption?
    Thanks, Jim

I guess I'm just too old because I have no interest in this and hate that it blocks the front of the casinos. How can I take a nice pic of the casino with this montrosity in front of it?
    Thanks, Jim

I'm pretty damn old too, but raring to ride on the new zipline. It's going be a cool addition to Fremont Street. The original downtown zip was fun, but kinda ugly on both ends. Slotzilla is going to look pretty nifty, I think.

The old zip line is definitely an eye sore, IMO. I expect Slotzilla to have a more polished appearance. Probably will look better but take up more space. Overall, it should be an improvement over the current set up.

But if I was king, there wouldn't be a zip line at all.

How much effort, if any, do the people running the zip line make toward preventing drunk zip line passengers?

The only thoughts I have when I see anyone slide down the line are

    1. Is this person going to puke on me?
    2. Is this person going to drop anything on me?
    3. Is this person going to get stuck?

I stayed on Fremont earlier this month during the work week, and there was no work going on the albatrosses?

We were there the end of May and saw nobody working at all. We were downtown during normal weekday work hours, too. If the thing is done this summer, it is going to be late summer.

I've never seen any drunks throw up or anything else. But I think I'll walk near the side of the street, just to be safe.

It is not just vomit that I would worry about when you add the drunk factor.

I guess I'm old AND cranky. I hate it all. Ziplines don't belong there. It's a gambling mecca, not an amusement park. Unless we bet on who falls off first. :evillaugh

June 25 thru July 5....Didn't see any workers. No visible progress.

Zip-liners went overhead for several days before the 4th.

    I was downtown July 7-12:

Slotzilla- workers on site at Slotzilla each day. I did not notice any obvious progress though.

On Monday 7/8 they did remove the last parts of the old zip line structure. Remember those horrible looking iron plates used to anchor the old zip line? Thankfully, they are gone now.

For the entire week, there were NO zip line riders. It was great!
