So this Saturday I am getting a big cabana at the MGM pool (not Wet Republic, but the main pool; we have one 17 year old in our group). Anyone have any experience with the MGM pool or its cabanas? Any suggestions on a specific cabana or area to request? Does anyone know what's in the cabanas (TV, stereo, safe, etc.)? Is the hotel's Wi-Fi available out there? Thanks in advance
I've booked a cabana for my son and a couple of friends (see #9 on 'Grand Pool Maps' which is off this page - http://www.mgmgrand.com/amenities/grand-pool-complex.aspx ) and thought I would select the one closest to Wet Republic so my son (24) and two friends similar in age could hang out and listen to music all day. That was a mistake. By the end of the day they were thankful to get as far away from there as possible. They really liked the lazy river but said the music was so painful after the novelty wore off. I would suggest lazy river and a cabana as far away from Wet Republic as possible.
When I would visit the MGM pool, I really enjoyed the "adults only" pool. It was a lot more mellow. I don't know if they had any of the really big cabanas over there, but it seems much more chill than the bigger pools. I think it was called the Directors Pool. I don't know if they'd really say anything about a 17 year old, as long as they aren't "Woo Vegas"-ing the entire time. The other pools seemed to have a lot of youngens running around.
I had cabana 26 (http://www.mgmgrand.com/amenities/grand-pool-complex_map.aspx) last year over July 4th week. It was mid week: $400 minimum food & drink. In other words, as long as you spend $400 on food & drink, the cabana is free. There is a fridge, TV, safe, etc in the cabana. Very nice and peaceful. I do not recall if I could get WiFi at the cabana... They kick you out surprisingly early - 5:30ish.
