Rates are date specific and based on demand and supply. What are your dates of travel?

Have you checked one of the conventions calendars? Maybe there's something huge in town those dates.

Sept 24-26 is the casino industry global gaming convention and 9/27 and 9/28 is the 2013 Mr. Olympia competition.

Yep that's why. Link to the large conventions in LV in 2013.

Thank you. I knew it had to be something. I will modify my travel. I got some really good rates for last weekend of august so we may just have to do it then.

    Thanks again everyone

Man, they are definitely high in September. I went to book for the weekend of the 20/21st of at MGM and all they had left were petite kings and high end suites. Even with my AAA discount the room wi taxes and resort fees was over 800 for four nights. Used to pay about 200 for the same trip in September at the Flamingo (even there you are looking at about 700 for their cheap room).

I called MGM and they couldn't even offer me the petite king on the phone so I booked on the website.

    Economy must really be improving.

The IHeartRadio festival is huge!! It ruined a conference I planned for the days preceding it. I'm still bitter.

Yes, September is pretty pricey in Las Vegas with the weather still being very good and it has a pretty big push from the convention season.

For a few years we would go to Las Vegas around the 20th-26th of September but stopped because we just found it harder and harder to get a comped room anywhere, which wasn't a problem if we moved our travel dates either back or forward one month.

I booked my 40th birthday trip in March (for 9/24 through 9/28) so luckily I got to use all my comps for a free visit, but seeing that convention schedule makes me cringe.

We just booked there. That explains the absence of rooms. But still, if their line up is even half of what they had the year before (speaking strictly in terms of star power not necessarily my personal taste) it should be one hell of a party.
