    Hello,

I hope I am posting this in the right place. If not, I apologize.

I am looking for the 2013 Unofficial Guide to Las Vegas or the 2013 Frommers Guide to Las Vegas.

I know I can buy these books at the local bookstore, Amazon etc. but since the year is half over and we are going in Nov. I was wondering if anyone would have either one of these books, that they don't need anymore and would like to sell.

I really hate to pay the 18.99 for this years book, when I know the 2014 book will be coming out in Dec. I think.

    Thank you for your time.

    Kindly,
    K-9treatbaker

I looked at both when I first got interested in LV, and much preferred the "Unofficial" version. I was looking for lists, descriptions, times, and lots of reference data and purchased an outdated year old copy on the discounted rack in the book store in an outlet c enter. It was current enough for my needs and affordable. I guess it depends on how up to date you need to be but even the current book can be changed by the time you get to LV; look at changes to LVA Book of Values and ACG. It is an option anyway.

"Unofficial" is a Frommer's imprint. Same basic information, just presented in a different format with a different voice and orientation. While I've always opted for "Unofficial" if choosing, either will suffice if you find one discounted. (And I certainly consult Frommer's guides for other locales.)

You know what they say about guidebooks, as to when they're outdated? About when the author edits the proofs.

Thank you Jimbo338 for the info. I forgot about the LVA Book of values. It may be a better choice for me.

    Ken2V,

I appreciate the insight. I did not know Unofficial was a different version of Frommer's.

Amazon usually has used versions of these books that you can buy. They aren't that cheap, but if no one on here has one, it might be an option. All my versions are REALLY old, 2006, 2007, etc.

Most big publishing houses have different "lines" of guidebooks, with differing markets or perspectives in mind, so you do get unique copy.

The difference in 2012, 2013 or 2014 can not be much. Anything that is new would be posted here I would think.

Amazon does have links to used book sellers, and some books can be had very cheap.

Karen, I found the 2013 Fodor's and Frommer's at my city library, surprisingly. Even if you only found 2012, that would be good enough.

Or a used copy off of Amazon would be better. They aren't worth full price.

The 'Unofficial' series of guidebooks is pretty good, IMO. We found it invaluable for Disney World. I haven't seen the one about Vegas, but I would assume it's well done.

Thanks, I will check out Amazon for a copy a year or two older.

I couldn't agree more, but I still like a copy I can curl up with. Okay, I am old fashioned. LOL

There are some locations we visit every year, often multiple times, and we always get the latest editions of the guidebooks we favor. I don't look at it like 20 bucks here or 20 bucks there, and I don't want to warm up to our vacation on an e-reader; I still like turning pages. Hell, we still get newspapers.
