Over the grand canyon tonight (8pm est on The DiscoveryChannel). He is doing this without a harness. I wonder if he'll have a parachute strapped to his back.

Memories of Evel Knievel (attempting to) jumping the grand canyon when i was a kid.

Hope they make it interesting and force the dude to pound a 12-pack before mounting the tightrope.

Of course... we're always "suckers" for this kinda thing. They have a 3 hour build-up before it... hope this doesn't turn out to be some hokey thing.

I plan on watching but wish he would wear a harness. i dont think it would lessen the risk. I dont want the guy to fall and die just for foolish entertainment. its simply not worth it.

I see no reason to watch. Two outcomes-
    1) The dude makes it across- that would be boring; don't want to see that.
    2) The dude falls to his death- that would be tragic; don't want to see that.

I watched it, that shit was crazy. At first I thought he was a selfish dick since he was married with kids, but then I read a little about his family and how it's been the family business for many years. Its all he knows.

He's a grandchild of "The Flying Wallenda's". Remember them? 3 generations of high wire people. And they were circus people before that.

Evel tried to jump the Snake River Canyon, in Idaho, not the Grand Canyon. However, you are correct, like me, it brought back memories of being a kid and watching that failed jump.

    I didn't watch it.
    .
Did they make any comments about his
    Dad ? Uncle ? grandfather ?......
being the Wallenda that fell to his death between
    two buildings.
    I believe it was in Puerto Rico......circa 70's or 80's ?
I remember seeing that footage !
    It was pretty horrible !

They did... his Great Grandfather (Karl) 1978... even showed the footage, but thankfully stopped it after he fell from the wire. Apparently, Nik is a 7th generation high-wire walker from the family.

God n Jesus. God n baby Jesus. Hallelujah you are my savior. You are a great Jesus. Please make the wind calm down, Jesus. Thank you, Jesus.

If you didn't watch it, that is all he said for 22 minutes.

It was very suspenseful, the camera shots from the canyon floor up showing him were crazy. Dudes got a bigger set than I do, that's for sure.
