Hi all, Wife and I have stayed at many places in vegas and liked to be on fremont or the strip where we could wander from place to place. My wife has passed so I am going solo in july. I was booked fri and sat at the d on fremont and sun-thurs at bally's I am fine with bally's but I am considering fri and sat at silverton instead of the d to relax by the pool and just have a much needed unwind time. We have visited the silverton before and thought it was really nice and loved the buffet. I arrive late on friday so would only have a bit of friday night and saturday before moving to bally's on sunday. I will have a car. Is the pool laid back and nice? Is drink service decent at the machines? Any help is much appreciated?
We stayed at the Silverton as a cheaper option to the Southpoint last summer and loved it. The place has a right homely feel to it,yet has various different bars and eating places so you don't get bored. The pool area was brilliant with plenty loungers and parasols to give shade(which Scots need)and regular drink service. They had a $20 deal at the time that gave you free access to a beer tap at poolside all day which I rightly abused! Hope this helps pal.
thanks willie that was a really nice and helpful review! I know fremont is lively on the weekend but I remember how much we liked the atmosphere at the silverton when we visited during the day last year. hopefully drink service is ok as that is the only drawback not being able to just walk to the next place if things don`t go well. not that I plan to get blotto but a couple of drinks an hour would be nice. we were never big on buffets but the one at silverton was really good.
The Silverton is one of my favorite places to stay in Vegas. I have stayed there at least one night for the past five or six years. The pool area is small but nice. I have only stayed during off pool times...normally February. I pretty much have had the pool area to my self, but I am sure it is busier during the spring/summer months. I have never had an issue with drink service at The Silverton. For me, it is a huge plus that they serve Coke products. I also like that they use decent sized glasses...unlike the shot size glasses they serve soft drinks in at Main Street Station. They will also serve Starbucks coffee on the casino floor. The video poker pay tables have gone downhill over the past five or six years, but I still love the casino. It's friendly and just the right size. The remodeled sports book is also VERY nice. The negatives would be some of the older rooms. The older rooms have tiny old tube tv's, and tiny unimpressive bathrooms. I believe some of the rooms have been remodeled, but I have not stayed in one of those. Even the old rooms have awesome beds....on par with Red Rock or Wynn. As you can see, I'm a fan. I would say go for it. You will have a car, so if you aren't happy it's a short drive to South Point or M Resort. Z
I never thought of going from silverton to visit southpoint. southpoint is a really fun place also. how far would southpoint be roughly from silverton? I wonder how much a cab ride would be in case the drinks go down too fast?
I have only stayed at the Silverton once, but the casino is one of our top 3 properties to visit in all of Las Vegas...We have never has a bad meal-from Johnny Rockets to Twin Creeks....on our last visit in late April, we stopped by on 3 separate occasions....the drink staff was ever present, and everyone is always so nice...We love it, and HIGHLY recommend it !!!
I really like this place! The drinks used to be downright huge. They're smaller now but still bigger than most places. The happy hour at the fine dining restaurant, Twin Creeks, is amazing (always on my to-do list no matter where I'm staying). Rooms are comfortable. 24-hour access to the small gym. Pool area is relaxed. Give it a try. You can take a (free, I think) shuttle to the strip if you get bored.
I love the quiet vibe of the place. Although I don't think I've ever hung out there on a weekend. I will be staying for a week in July. Southpoint is about ten minutes away, not sure what a cab would cost.
Silverton is my "home base" for every LV visit. I get offers from other properties and I always choose the Silverton. Clean, quiet, friendly workers from the front desk to the dealers and everyone in between. The food at the Silverton is fairly diverse. Decent Mexican food at Mi Casa. Their weekend champagne brunch buffet is worth it although they no longer serve the crabs legs (bummer). The ACG Silverton buffet B1G1 coupon lessens the sting. You can get your coffee fix at the Starbucks. Johnny Rockets is decent but I much prefer In-and-out that's just a block away. Sundance grill has a killer midnight special of eggs, hasbrowns, toast, bacon for $3. But the true hidden gem at the Silvertons by far is the happy hour half price tapas at Twin Creeks. $5 mixed drinks too! If you pass this up then you should be committed. It's that good. Drink service has always been great for me. Tip a $1 each drink and you'll be taken care of. Me and my wife like to sit at the Flare Bar and play VP/VBJ for the comped drinks. Where else can you get to drink craft beers for next to nothing? They had Dogfish Head IPA, Magic Hat, and Anchor Steam on draft! Sooo good. They never sweat our play level and have made anything we have asked for. This goes for any of the bars and not just the Flare Bar. Let's see, their pool is nice and clean and the lounge chairs are free for guests. You'll pay a little bit if you want the cabanas but they give that money back in food and beverages. You can order drinks and food from the poolside waitress. Then there is the fish tank, the Bsss Pro shop, and a slick new sports betting area, and a blingy gift shop. I think Silverton did a good job at providing a little bit of everything (food, gaming, pool, shopping) for their customers without going overboard with it. It's one of the main reasons we keep coming back. True story time... On my last visit I learned that the Silverton is one of a few properties that doesn't pool tips for the dealers. This means that your tip goes directly to the dealer you are giving it to. Silverton dealers have always been personable but now they are more friendlier than ever. I sat down at a BJ table a few months back and after some play I decided to tip the dealer. I wanted to wager the tip so I place it above the betting circle. The dealers first words were, "Oh, do you need change for that?" I was like, "No way, that's for you!" How gracious is that? Made me happy to tip her. I won't sit at a grumpy dealer table and luckily I never run into that problem at the Silverton. There is a reason most of their dealers have been with them for years.
Glad to see the Silverton getting bigged up with this thread. Although the wife and I aren't table gamblers and can't comment on dealers, the bar staff in ALL of the bars are the friendliest we've met in Vegas. We actually walked from Silverton to Southpoint last summer in July which was probably a bit much for that time of year as my smouldering hair must've been close to setting off the smoke detectors on arrival!
silverton would be a good bet I think and it is available for $57 per night on the weekend which is awesome. too bad to hear that they nixed the crab legs on the weekend brunch, they were great
I've never stayed at Silverton, but always liked the look and feel of the place. I often drive up there for breakfast when I'm staying at the M or Southpoint. Three good things I know about Silverton: Bass Pro Shops. If you don't have one of these in your home town, check it out. Walk to In N Out on Blue Diamond Airstream bowling
They must have pissed some customers off on that because when I went to the weekend brunch the cashier told me they weren't serving crab legs anymore BEFORE I paid. A bummer for sure but if you can score the buffet at half price then I say it's worth it.
