We are taking an unexpected vaca to Panama City Fl in 2 weeks - tagging along with grown kids we normally go to LV with. They said Biloxi is about 1.5 hours drive and should make a trip over to gamble. I checked online and can get a comped nite at (CET) Grand Biloxi. Anyone been there / stayed there? Would love to hear your thoughts before making decision to do a day trip or stay overnite. Thanks!!

Way back in the pre-Katrina days, I stayed there and it was very nice.
    Not much help, I know.

I would do an overnight trip there are about 7-8 casinos to check out
my favorite was the palace ....non smoking ...
    margaretiaville was pretty cool also
it is worth an overnight free stay to check it all out ......go for it

The rooms are actually pretty nice for the value. Remind me of like a newer Fairfield Inn... we prefer the bayview to look away from the "strip". The casino itself is probably the worst CET casino I've ever been to...short of maybe Cherokee.

The pool is simple but neat in that every time we have gone they are running food and drink specials and are quick and attentive on service. We've had a blast there.

But we enjoy Biloxi a bunch and some minimal play (running a couple hundred through a couple times...generally leaving even if not up or down a smidge) at Hard Rock and IP resulted in ongoing room night offers. Beau Rivage used to be better but I feel like the crowd brings it down.

I stayed there last August for one night during the CET Great Race and $20 got me an upgrade to room 1238 which was the Presidential Suite. Nicest room I have ever stayed in. The casino seemed a little small but the drink service was top notch.

Before Katrina, the Grand Biloxi and Grand Gulport were my two favorite Gulf Coast casinos. Now, I rarely stay at Grand Biloxi due to the size of the casino despite weekly mailouts from them. The hotel itself is fine and I really like their pool area. LB's is a nice restaurant. All those things are factors that will make your staying at the Grand pleasant. If gambling is a big part of your casino experience, I would consider staying at the Grand and visiting some of the other casinos in Biloxi. The Hard Rock, Beau Rivage, and IP are all good choices and within a 5 minute drive of the Grand. I would lean towards spending the night. I think that 90 minute drive estimate is a little off from PCB. My brother lives in Destin and it takes him that long to get to Biloxi. PCB is further east than Destin by about 30 minutes.

over 200 miles from pcb to biloxi

Thats a pretty good haul from PCB to Biloxi. Gulf shores and orange beach always takes me nearly two hours.

I found the Grand to be an entertaining and friendly place to gamble and the MiniBac dealer even chatted alot to slow things down since I was losing, but overall I did not like the Asian food and I certainly felt the host was very ungenerous.
