I find MGM to be really nice for watching/betting horse racing.
The screens are close and large making it easy to read the screens.

    NYNY is a terrible place.

Staying at PH and want to know which places in the area are comparable to MGM's setup for horse racing?

Bellagio is nearby and is a solid choice. Nice book.

The South Point has a book entirely dedicated to racing, and I know that the ponies are one of Mike Gaughan's favorite parts of the buisness.

PH is between Bellagio and Aria so either one of those should work out fine.
Worst case I will just walk a bit further to MGM.

Ceasars has a nice Race/ Sports book. Believe it or not, the one at Ballys is pretty nice too.

I think you hit it right on the first time -- MGM is good for races.

I also like the South Point race book.

    Other favorites include:

Strip - Tropicana Not very crowded, easy to get your own TV, they give you personal wager terminals if requested.

Near strip - LVH - Great sports and race book - plenty of race bet only clerks and personal televisions for race fans. Good drink service as well.

Downtown - El Cortez Easy to score drink tickets, plenty of up close TVs at viewing level, clerks are fast to get your bet in before they're off.

Off strip - Red Rock - Great place if you're around Summerlin. Not as busy as LVH, requires drink tickets, you get 1% comp dollars (not allowed by law to give rebates in Nevada) for your wagers which you can use anywhere points are accepted.
