Will low play at low-end MGM property affect comps at higher properties?

Sorry if this question has been asked. I usually play at Aria and I have a decent relationship with my host and receive decent comps there. I'm planning a trip where I don't plan to do much in the way of serious gambling. Maybe just fool around with average bets that are much lower than my norm at Aria. Obviously I don't plan to take advantage of my host at Aria, but will my low play at other lower end properties such as Monte Carlo affect my comps at higher end properties like Aria? I assume it will affect the corporate offers? Would you guys advise that I avoid MGM properties all together?

Not certain, but I can think of an obvious solution that doesn't present this problem: don't give them a player club card when you play. or play at non-MGM properties. For a couple years I did that. My high end play was ta MGM properties and my lower end play was at CET properties. Would often times do both on the same trip

why do that? your best option is to book with your host and stay at Aria as normal and just have a low trip. one low trip won't hurt you much and you'll still get whatever comps he's willing to offer you upfront.

Agree. I just did this for my July 4th trip - told my host I would likely not gamble this trip. He still gave me a comp room, a little resort credit and a limo pickup (up front)

Meh, sometimes there are other considerations. I'm staying at MGM Grand on an upcoming trip because I'm going with a big, cost-sensitive group, and "let's stay at Mandalay Bay because it would be free for me" wasn't a winning argument.

Because if low playing is going to consternate you so much that you're worried about your future comps, just take comps out of the equation and don't give them your card.

Well I still want to be rewarded for my play and I still want to stay on a comp and work at a host, just with a host at a lower end property. I figure my less than usual play should still be sufficient to get a room at say Monte Carlo. Not sure about Mirage though, since it's still being treated as a high end property.

Have you contacted a host at MC? I'm sure they would love your business. Its been a couple years since I last stayed at Mirage, but my impression then was that they treat it on par with the grand and MB, but a step below Aria and Bellagio (at least in terms of the play requirements and what kind of upfront comps you can get)

MC and Mirage have been pretty equal with their offers to me. The only two properties I get offers at, probably since my last four stays have been at one of the two.

No I haven't contacted a host at MC since I don't know one. I will probably contact one within the next couple of days. Just want to get some information from this thread first.

Usually offers are based on your play at that particular resort, so I'm thinking it wouldn't affect your play at the Aria if you didn't gamble much at the MGM/Monte Carlo/Mirage. It's not often I see offers from the other MGM casinos that I don't visit, although I do get them from time to time.

And, as shifter said, one low play trip won't affect things.

Asked a host a while back about this and they said that comp were only based on play at that resort. I have often low played at other properties while hotel crawling at it hasn't affected my comps

Your host was referring to comps during your stay though right? If you're staying at Bellagio, your play at Bellagio is all that matters. What I'm talking about is when you are not staying at Bellagio and you're playing at say Excalibur at much lower levels and whether that affects your comps at Bellagio.

I use to worry about this too. Sometimes I like to chill at a $25 pai gow poker table and just drink for a few hours. I use to decline to be rated, but I asked my host about it one time and he told be that isolated low play is basically ignored when calculating comps. Further, he said that it can sometimes help quick hit artists like myself get to the required 4 hours a day of play.

I also notice that I can get Macallan 18 comped at $25 dollars a hand when the pit boss sees how much I normally play at. So now I hand my card over anytime I am asked for it.

any host that says something like this to their players is suspect at best and downright sleazy at worst. there is no requirement for 4 hours a day for any comps. everything is based on theo. a host saying this is just trying to get you to play more than you really want to in order to meet this magical number.

It wouldnt make sense to require hours per day anyways...cuz I will go play $5 BJ for 4 hours to reach the "required" 4 hours

When they enter your card (swipe or enter ID) does it actually show them your ratings and theo and your account data? I wouldnt expect pit bosses to have access to that info...

I would expect you were comped Macallan 18 since you are playing at a $25 dollar min table...not because of your rating

If you find a table that comps Macallan 18 for $25 play and nothing else, please PM me on the table location.

Maybe if you have a Platinum or NOIR card they will comp it easier...

My whole point was whether or not the pit boss can see your play by just swiping your players card

I have heard the magic 4 hour a day line for so long and from so many hosts, I just believed it to be true. Maybe they all just convinced me to drink the Kool-Aid.

I am Platinum, but I am pretty sure that the pit bosses can and do pull your play in the pit. I have no dependable sources on that theory, it is just based on personal experience.

You can get Macallan 18 comped at the Encore at the $25 pai gow table located at the very end of the table games and all the way to the right. It is right near the slot machines. It has always been a dependable location for cheap gambling and expensive drinking. I have also gotten Macallan 18 comped at various $25 pai gow tables at the Aria, but I believe that to be based on my prior play, but who knows, maybe I just got lucky.
