Encore or Wynn???

Hello there may fellow Vegas enthusiasts. I just got back from Vegas (TR coming up) and I'm now hard at work planning my next visit.

I'm torn between staying at the Wynn or Encore in August. I've stayed at Wynn before and it is still my favorite hotel. However, this time I thought I'd possible try Encore since I've never stayed there and I like the idea of having another 100 sq ft of space.

My questions, is it a long walk through the hotels to get to Wynn? Are the rooms at Encore just as nice Wynn's? Is it worth the extra walk. How are the restaurants at Encore?

I'm a 35yo single male traveling solo next time and i'd like to find something that caters more to me. I'd also probably being spending quite a bit of time by the pool.

I prefer Encore over Wynn. The reason for this is that i think the rooms are nicer, i also prefer there pool area at encores side. The casino is smaller and less busy but for me thats another advantage. It only takes a few minutes walking the promenade to get to Wynns casino anyway.

Im surprised that u have stayed at Wynn and never made it over to Encore since they are connected and so close to each other. Sinatra and Botero are two good options for fine dining and the breakfast place is also pretty good. I say go with Encore so you can form your own opinion.

 

I agree, the rooms in Encore are a bit nicer, but I found the casino to be a bit "stuffy" for my taste, so I kept going over to the Wynn side for fun and it is a very short, quick walk.

 

except when the beach club is open (and sometime surrender) encore is much quieter / less busy than wynn. I do like the rooms at encore better.

 

As others have said, I prefer Encore rooms but Wynn Casino.

 

Encore has the much better rooms and casino because it is more quiet but Wynn has better climate control in their rooms.

Not a long walk at all. Takes you three to five minutes between.

Thank you all very much for the responses. I booked the Encore for 3 nights in August. Now comes the painful wait.

 

While I prefer Wynn (at least lately…I go back and forth – if you look through my old posts, I’m sure there are a few where I say exactly the opposite), I definitely think Encore is worth trying.

Other than the size, I think the only real difference in the rooms is the style of the décor, not the quality of furnishings. Wynn was given a “refresh” a few years ago, so everything is a bit newer. But Encore isn’t exactly old and everything has always been in great shape during my visits.

My preference for Wynn has mostly to do with the casino and the rest of the property. Wynn has many more tables of “good” or at least “pretty good” blackjack. I like having Parasol Up right there for some fancy cocktails and great people watching (not to mention the tastiest snack mix you’ll find). I also like the excitement from the sports book when there’s a big event going on. I’ve also found drink service to be a little better at Wynn. (But Encore’s small size does make it so the CWs can get to know you and your drink preferences.)

Of course, Encore has plenty of advantages of its own. Its location as (what many consider) the northern most property on the strip means there are far fewer sightseers just passing through. This makes for easy navigation as you seldom find yourself behind a group of four walking abreast, stopping and taking pictures every ten feet. And, as mentioned, it is usually a much calmer and quieter place than about anywhere else on the strip. It is definitely a more pleasant place to be in while you’re on your first cup of coffee and nursing a hangover.

One word of caution about Encore: in some rooms, you can hear the bass from the clubs until the wee hours of the morning. I’ve always been able to successfully combat the noise with the TV on low, but if you’re a light sleeper it is something to take into consideration. The “quiet” rooms are the north-facing ones as high up as you can get. The check-in people know about the issue, so if you ask for a “quiet room” at check-in, they’ll know exactly what you mean.

As others have mentioned, the walk between the two isn’t a big deal. It can get really crowded by the showrooms right before and after a show. But nothing to worry about.

I stayed in a Wynn room on the 33rd floor over looking the golf course and I could hear the music too!

 

As of the past few years if you booked a Wynn room they would automaticly "upgrade" you to a Encore room for free if available. So you can get a Encore room for the price of a Wynn room. While at Encore make sure to try a Sinatra Smash.

 

I know the OP already booked but I'll a vote of preference for Encore. When I stayed I was on the strip side and had no noise problem. Also, there were reports about bad air conditioning but I had no such problems.

I liked the walk from the Wynn to Encore, not too long but enough to give me a chance to clear my hear. If I needed another drink before bedtime I could drink and play a little VP.

Society Cafe is great for a moderately priced meal.

Either one you pick you will have a great time at Steve Wynn's properties. Every time I choose not to be cheap and hang at Harrahs or Treasure Island, I always choose the Wynncore and I always come back profitable and with a great experience. And looking forward to the next trip.

I really like Wazuzu and the Buffett for dining. Allegro is great too since it opens late and really love their steak and eggs at 3 am after a game of baccarat.

 

Sitting at McCarran after 3 days at Encore. If you value peace and quiet in your room ask for a golf course view. My advice is to ask for the 31st floor; it's the lowest floor in the top bank if elevators, so you get a good view but you won't have to the elevator stop on 2 or 3 floors while going to/coming from your room.

Also, Society Cafe is very good for breakfast/lunch, and you can sit at the bar.

Enjoyed Encore, but not the Boom.

Double, word of advice at the front desk during check in.
Unless you enjoy the Boom, boom, of the pool club until 4 AM.
(we were on the 59 th floor & still could hear the boom)
get a Golf course view.

 

i stayed at both a few times. although i like the rooms at encore more, i like the staff at wynn more. they are more friendly. it took me over two hours to check in at encore one time and it was about 1 a.m., not even their peak hour . long story, don't get me started.

as for the view, i had the golf course view couple times but i forgot it's the same as mountain view or not. if not, i actually enjoy the mountain view better. no matter what, you'll enjoy in either.
