100 in the desert is not bad if you're not in the sun. but 110 is hot anywhere.

Never thought I would golf when it was 100, but we did. Just lay off the beer until the round is over. Learned that the hard way.

It has to be a dry heat, any moisture has been boiled off.

It is hotter than hell here right now, but as Shifter said, stay in the shade and it is bearable. I also golfed in 100 degree weather here last year but managed to make it by drinking plenty of water.

My personal record is 123 in Death Valley in 2009. I can walk without problem when it's 100-110 in Vegas, but it felt like continuous unrelenting sonic booms of heat coming at us non stop. Didn't do as much hiking as planned that day.

    How about Death Valley today?

Love how Monday at 110 is "cooler".

I still remember our trip in July 2008. We were outside and walking to catch the tram from Excaliber to Luxor/Mandalay /Bay. The Temp. on the l.e.d. board read 107 degrees.

It was 7:30 in the evening......

Vegas is not far from the hottest spot in North America if not all of the Americas. It is going on summer. This is like flying to Hawaii and being shocked by all the water. lol

Like everything else, it's all relative. If you live in Indio, 100 is nothing. If you are from Nome, it is something. Now at some point hot does get to too hot, unless of course you are German and longing for that Badwater hike!

I've played hundreds of rounds of golf when the temp was on the north side of 100, on up into the teens (the real teens, not the almost always overbaked estimates on bank and other buildings' readerboards). Teens aren't fun.

As for that relative, I've gone a good ways toward losing my heat tolerance since the move. August in Vegas, playing Coyote Springs and Cascata and wherever is gonna be interesting.

Joe is correct. No booze. Lotsa water. Hat. More water. Sunscreen. Still more water. Invest in good, modern textiles. Drink water.

As Electro says, there is something special about the sun being down and Mr. Merc still going three across.

Going out tomorrow. Golfing Monday and Tuesday. Look forward to the "cool off" for Monday.

It's going to be in the high 90s here in Austin, but with 50% humidity. I can easily handle 105 with 5% humidity.

I hear you! Some of most oppressive heat here is when we hit upper 80s or low 90s and have 80% humidity. I would think that happens a lot in TX?

Living in 'extreme' heat for the past 50 years............you need to start hydrating (for a round of golf, or a day of walking the strip) the day before. Your organs will thank you for the extra moisture on that brutal day!

Yes, water is also necessary during those hot times. Don't forget your feet. They're hitting that hot pavement hard too!

Notice my sig below? That is historically the hottest week in Vegas!

So true about hydrating even the day before... I've already started!

The misses and I will be making our 7th August visit this year. I always bring my clubs and play any where from 6-8 rounds of golf over a 10 day period. This year staying 2 weeks and sure to play more. Being from Florida I have learned that proper(water) hydration is key, start the night before. Definitely wait till the 19th hole for any alcohol.

I like Vegas more in the summer than I do in the winter.

90 degrees with humidity in Chicago/rest of the midwest/Texas, etc = feels like DEATH

110 degrees in Vegas with little to no humidity and ice-cold casinos = paradise!

    Remember a 98 at midnight.

Nothing like a summer rain storm either.
