Hi guys, new to the forum and have what would appear to be a relatively basic question RE: hotel discounts/comps for Sapphire members. I played for 20 hours on a recent trip at the Grand with an average bet of only $30 a hand (which is relatively disappointing because I played two $30 hands at a time most of the time and evidently that wasn't taken into consideration). I called M life services to see if they could do anything for me hotel wise- and yes the room I would need would be on a Friday and Saturday so I wasn't expecting much of anything, but something... Was told nothing could be done for me save for whatever I could get through the M Life website on the deals, which is a pittance.
My question essentially is is there any other way to possibly get better room deals at M Life properties or am I out of luck since I haven't made enough trips/bet enough during my play? Or, alternatively, should I just play quite a bit with a slightly higher average bet and just see if they can do anything when I check out?

Also, I only have 10,000 points or so and figured this also played into me getting nothing since I'm not a Pearl yet.

    Thanks for any feedback!

Comps are only based on your ADT (average daily theoretical loss) or theo, your tier has nothing to do with it. ADT is calculated from your average bet per hand, the number of hands per hour that game does, and the house advantage of the game. So it sounds like you play blackjack...so $30/hand *70 hands/hr *20 hours*3% HA = $1260 for the whole trip...divide by number of days to get per day

At MGM total comps are around 40% of your ADT, 13% goes to ECs and 27% is primary comps. So you would expect to have around $340 primary for your whole trip. Divide by the number of days to get per day. This is the amount of comps the casino will be willing to give for hotel, food, freeplay, etc. So if you have a $60/day in primary comps they will not comp you a $100 per night room...its just not worth it to them.

Since this is your first trip as a Mlife member you now have some history and records on your account so you should expect some corporate offers (emails and on Mlife.com) over the next few months.

you should never chase comps though...just play where you are comfortable and the appropriate comps will come.

P.S my numbers might not be perfect...it seems like the going hands/hour of blackjack changes quite often and I cant remember the exact MGM comp percentages...they are close though

I know the last poster said, but it needs repeating.

Comps/offers are based on AVERAGE PLAY. It is not related to your tier level. In theory, your play and tier level might go side by side. But, it does not. There are PLATS that barely get room offers.

Probably a main reason why NOIR is invite only again...locals that hit the casino everyday after work and run $40 through a machine and rack up points get to the NOIR level and then abuse the perks...limo rides to and from the airport just for fun for example

20 hours is a lot, but it depends on how many days it was spread across.

MGM Grand wants $100 avg bet for a host to comp a basic room. you'll have to wait until you get an offer in the mail from corporate or from the hotel in order to get anything besides your express comps.

Thanks guys. Yeah I played 20 hours over three days so I definitely have them some play, however, playing two 25 dollar hands somehow only net me a Bet per hand of 30 dollars somehow lol. I knew about the ADT but haven't heard anything from M life since I was there in late April. I want to go back for another weekend soon but since they're not doing anything for me on the rooms, it's likely not going to happen until August much to my chagrin. I had some time logged in at the Golden Nugget on my players card there, considering they're a Fremont street casino would I just be better off playing there if I'm trying to get some help on the room? Not chasing comps here or anything but its just more of a principle thing I guess... Especially since when I go to Vegas I am in the casinos for 7 hours a day min it seems lol

Great thanks paper. I tried to avoid CET properties due to me (on earlier trips where I didn't have a players card at the time) felt like their rules for blackjack weren't as good. Lot of 6:5 tables with other horrible rules. I will usually sit at a $15 table and play $25 per hand or many times two $25 hands and prefer a 3:2 and not hearing nonsense like these obscure splitting rules and the like

Sometimes when you're playing $25 a hand the pit boss just isn't paying attention. When you bet two spots, when the guy looks over he might miss it. When I'm playing two spots, I try to engage the pit boss in conversation occasionally, so he sees what I'm doing. In some cases, I've just been right up front and told him I'm going to play two spots at a certain level.

Also, it doesn't hurt to check with the pit boss when you cash out to make sure he got you right. If he tells you he's got you at $30 and you've been playing $50 every hand, that's a fix he can make by checking with the dealer.

Do they rate two hands at $25/each as $50? I would think not.

And, the OP stated that he sits at $15 tables and plays two $25 hands. I thought at MGM you had to at least double the table minimum in order to play two hands? Perhaps that's where the $30 rating comes into play.

2 hands at $25 each is rated as $50, unless the PB overlooks that you are playing 2 spots.

the other thing they do sometimes is rate you at $25 for twice the time. just depends on the pit boss. so that could be why the rating was low, but the hours were high.

On my last trip, my bet spread was about the same, although it has been higher on previous trips. Since my trip in October, I have received offer for 3 free nights and some free play (around $150). My hope is that marketing would send you similar offers in the near future.

yes to 6/5 on low tables but bring your bet up to 25 a hand and you will plenty of 2/3 at cet .
if you want 15 a hand you just have to poke around more.

the big differnce is you can double after your split on double deck and can only split acess twice but at your play you will get at cet ,lot more in free rooms for your play and they wont watch your hours and there will be plenty of offfers more than mgm by far.

I was pretty friendly with the pit staff the entire time I was there and made a point of tipping well (the dealers) and engaging in constant conversation (I'm a talker lol). I got a few buffet comps while there after asking and wasn't turned down once, which led me to believe I had some repoire with the pit staff...

I guess I should just make a better attempt at maxing out my bets (or within reason) once they're at the table which many people do. I'm on the cusp of booking a flight for next week and want to make sure this time around that since I am going solo (went with a double bachelor party last time) I am playing longer and with a slightly higher average.

I will also be sure to check out some CET properties as the general consensus seems to be that their comp system is more amenable to a low-mid grade player like myself. I just wanted to ensure that when I go, if I do next week, I am not paying $200 for a hotel room in the Grand of which I will likely spend a few hours tops in lol
