Monte Carlo remodeling

I have a 3 night trip booked for June 15th,16th,17th at Monte Carlo.

I booked it well before they started the construction/demolition of the outside/front of the casino.

Has anyone stayed there lately or walked past the casino? Is the construction a major issue? Would you recommend switching to a different hotel?

They haven't started on it yet. I'm sure you could find out when they're starting it, but I don't think it will be this soon after the announcement.

It looks like they started some demolition.

 

I miss the original Monte Carlo and Mirage as designed, owned and operated by Steve Wynn.

I hope the NYNY/MC Park & Facade remodel is a nice place to look at / visit. Nuking El Diablo would be a good start.

Then again, I also miss the Klondike Casino formerly located across the street and south of the [STRIKE]Hacienda[/STRIKE] Mandalay Bay.

I was there just over two weeks ago, which is about 3 months in Vegas time, and the only thing I noticed was that they had one door blocked off with that orange construction fencing stuff. To enter or exit Monte Carlo, you had to use the side closer to Diablo's Cantina (which seems to be firmly in place...sorry friend). Inside the casino, the only thing I noticed was that there were orange cones and a sign directing you to the other door.

It didn't really dawn on me why it was roped off until I read this post.

 

Monte Carlo used to be my home since opening in the mid 90's. The fountains and facade were a big draw to the hotel. Then they decided to deface Monte Carlo with the gawd aweful Diablo's Cantina. Some things are better left unchanged in Vegas, like the gawd aweful Sugar Factory replacing the front fountain at Paris.
Monte Carlo never had people rushing into the hotel from the Strip, but there was enough traffic to warrant the buffet (which i loved) and Lance Burton (he left in 2010, the final nail in the coffin IMO). Now they either bypass the Monte Carlo and City Center by walking on the east side of the Strip, or, if staying at Monte Carlo, you gambled at the back half of Monte Carlo and then catch the Tram to Bellagio. There's nothing to do once past the restrooms. The people actually walking past the restrooms, like myself, are now just on their way out of MC.
Monte Carlo was my personal favorite for staying and playing..........but now, i just take the Tram (i can't walk like i used to, at least for now) to Monte Carlo and hurry out the door to NYNY and continue my journey.
