MGM you can get $5 craps at Excal and NYNY if it's during the week. Weekend night, maybe hooters, maybe Excal.

The bedding in the Mirage rooms is nicer, and the room itself is slightly bigger than the MGM basic room. The mirage bathroom is pretty small in the basic room. I definitely like the casino in MGM much better, and the selection of food at MGM is way better than that at Mirage. Mirage's buffet is better than MGM's.

I agree with what mike said and I guess they're a mile+ or so apart (not any closer). I prefer the Mirage area over the MGM's "hood", but that's just me... I Like TI and Caesar's and I like the Wynncore properties as well. Of course, Palazzo and Venetian are right across the street too. I'm over the MGM's general area, but you'll find many, many folks who state, "that's right where ya wanna be!"

hey thanks for the input, anymore would be great also.

And is there any 5 crap tables near the mirage ? since that seems to be most peoples view and the nicer of the two.

I prefer the Mirage basically because I think it's a better location and I actually just enjoy the property more than the MGM...which is a tad bit massive for my liking.

I doubt there's much difference in the basic King room in either, although I have not stayed at the MGM since they've renovated everything (I do know those rooms at The Signature @ MGM are fantiastico...so maybe that's an option as it's a great deal for either of the two room types they offer).

Casino Royale would most likely have $5 tables. They might even still have their $3 Craps Tables going earlier in the day....but definitely $5. Otherwise you're best bet down on that end is basically Circus Circus/Riviera and further North. There might be an outside chance the Imperial Palace/Quad may have some...but that's pure speculation based on what a crappy hotel it is. I haven't been inside that place in three years.

It sucks that Barbary Coast/Bill's and O'Shea's are gone. I guess I should count the days until The Royale is demolished, too. Love those small, dive casino's.

MGM just completed a major renovation and the new rooms are an improvement.
I think their new beds are more comfortable that Mirage.
Although the location of the Mirage is better, there are a lot of things going on there now that limit food options.
BB Kings replace the coffee shop and that is now closed.
Kokomo's,the steakhouse, is closed to be replaced by a new one late summer.
MGM has a food court for quick breakfast or lunch.

    Mirage all the way,
    Smaller casino than MGM
    Better drink service than MGM
Better customer service, Not as many kids as at the MGM location, due to number of hotels at that end of the strip that cater more to them.

I have never had a problem finding $5.00 tables across the street from the Mirage at Harrah's, Plus Mirage is center strip, JMO

Again, Mirage is a little more $$$ than MGM but well worth it in our book.

You can actually get $5 craps at Mirage, you just have to get there in the morning. Both weekend days I was there in April they opened a table for $5...it stayed at $5 for maybe 15 minutes. But if you got on the table when it opened, you were grandfathered for as long as you wanted to play. I never did that because I played more than $5, but I saw some guys playing later that day who were still grandfathered in.

But then at night, they had $15 minimum -- but again, that was Friday and Saturday nights on a busy weekend.

They are pretty even, on almost every level to me. It literally would come down to nit picky things like... the ceiling at Mirage in the casino is low.. and MGM is TOO big.

Ultimately, which is cheaper? and do you prefer North strip or South strip?

I would go with whoever was cheaper. MGM seems to be running much better specials than Mirage these days.

The other thing people talk about is location...but it's location in relation to what? For example, if you're an MLife player, MGM is right there around a bunch of other MGM casinos. The only other MGM casino even remotely close to the Mirage is B.
