So I will do a trip report this stay in Vegas. Some pre-trip plans. So we fly into Vegas Thursday night arriving at 8:30 pm. We will be flying in on Delta and have a rental car for the trip. Our room at the Plaza is comped thanks to a friend that hooked me up with a casino host. It was just going to be my wife and I this trip but a friend decided to join us on my birthday which is June 8th. He is bringing a friend that has never been to Vegas and doesn't gamble but drinks, so probably a lot of drinking is going to happen this trip. Last year there was about a dozen of us hanging out in Vegas but due to new jobs, house closings, & cousins turning 21 others aren't going to Vegas this year or some of them will be there at the end of June. You have to love e-mailing friends back and fourth trying to plan a trip. I thought some of these friends were going to Vegas the weekend of June 22nd which I have a race that weekend. But 2 weeks ago I find out it's the last weekend of June??? Oh well, next year I pick up the phone and plan the whole gang trip.
So here is my plan and maybe some of you can help. Since this is my birthday weekend I plan to have a lot of fun and really enjoy the trip. So I already have dinner reservations Friday night at Craft steakhouse, Saturday night at Gordon Ramsey's steakhouse, & Sunday night at the Flame with our friends. Get the theme here, steak, steak, & more steak. So I want to have steak every night in Vegas. So what do I do Thursday night? We get in at 8:30 and by the time we check-in I predict it will be closer to 10 pm. So where do I eat at 10 pm downtown where the staff isn't pissed because they have to serve food late? Other than the Flame I've ate at Binion's steakhouse(I wasn't impressed). Plus I need a place to Monday night. I'm thinking Oscar's since we are staying at the Plaza and maybe I will get dinner comped. Also a friend has suggested the steakhouse in Circus Circus. I've read reviews but it's at Circus Circus, we stayed there once, it was our 2nd trip to Vegas. We leave our kids at home we don't want to see them sleeping on the casino floor, we have never stepped back into the place. Plus this same friend that is suggested Circus Circus said Binion's was really good and it wasn't. My favorite steak in Vegas, really anywhere in the world is the bone-in ribeye at the Strip House in Planet Hollywood. I even went back a 2nd time and it was a good as the first time.

Friday we are going to lunch at Heart Attack Grill, loved the burger & booze shake last year, so going back.(plus the waitress is fun)
Saturday Hash House for breakfast and catch the "O" show after Gordon Ramsey's.
Sunday go to Eat for breakfast and head to the strip and have lunch at Twin Peaks with the friends(We are guys after all). Head over to the Rio to check out the WSOP. I've promised myself no 13 hour poker days this trip which my friends are betting that I won't make it through the trip without one day stuck at some all day poker tournament. Sure I probably will play a 3 hour tournament but no all day tournament. I have plans this trip I can resist.
Sunday I also went to check out the Neon & mob museums. At night hit the Mob bar and Insert Coin.
Monday hit the Golden Nugget breakfast buffet then go see the Hoover Dam for the first time ever. Last year was the first time I actually watched the Freemont Street light show. In the past I was either gambling or in a poker tournament so I never stepped out to see the show.
I also want to go to Triple George and try Magnolias for lunch.

As for gambling besides playing poker and video poker at bars. I will play some blackjack and craps, I played craps last year for the first time and had a blast at El Cortez, not so much fun at the Plaza. I also want to play Ultimate Hold'em for the first time. My friends play it but I haven't, I always just think that why not just play poker but I'm going to give it a try.

Looking forward to the trip. Only 8 more nights to go before I had to Vegas.

I suggest playing the two-deck shoe games at Plaza, LVC & El-Co... best blackjack downtown, by far.

The hold-'em table game is a LOT of fun! The key difference is that you do not have beat other payers - only the dealer. You'll be wanting to stay in for the flop for a lot more hands than you might otherwise in a real game, but you'll also find that a simple pair often wins.
Me? I stay for the flop with any Jack or better, or any two suited cards that reach - and I've done pretty well at this game.
If I don't have a pair or four-flush after the flop, I check.

    Best of luck!

    Good luck with your trip.

I am there myself at the plaza from the 2nd to the 17th June.

Wife never been to Vegas before so spending the first week chilling and enjoying ourselves before she flies home and I stay to put some serious hours in at the poker tables at the rio venetian and nugget for 9 days

Don't plan on sitting at oscars after 9:30 on a weekday.
I was pissed Monday night when I had been at the Plaza for 3 days on a full RFB and planned to use it to my benefit Monday night at oscars. Got stuck (a good thing) in Binions poker classic until 10:15, called oscars and was informed of last seating at 9:30.
Ended up grabbing a subway instead. Lol.

A friend suggested Triple George on Thursday night but doesn't know if they are still serving at about 10 pm. He also said their lunches are really good. I was thinking about going there for lunch one of the days but I did check out the menu today while we were playing poker and it looked pretty good. Anyone know if they serve late?

I just got back from vegas, the Main St Station has a steak and shrimp buffet on thursday, it was pretty good, I had one decent piece of steak(considering the size of the buffet, limiting yourself to steak seems a little silly). You can get a good steak all over downtown.

My fav place in Vegas is the Second Street Grill, at the Fremont!! Also, for a special meal you should consider Hugo's Cellar, at the Four Queens.
