I just booked my airfare for July 10-14 and have not yet booked my hotel. I have been reading on here everyday for advice, thanks everyone. I ran into one of my business clients and knowing he is a gambler let him know about my recently booked trip. He said he has an offer from the Venetian for an extremely low rate(not free) and said he would call to see if he could book it and then transfer to me. Sounds a little unlikely but has anyone here done this or something similiar?

Depending on how low - your chances are slim. Here is my thoughts on it.

1 - If the room is not FREE, then he does not play enough to get their attention. Low roller. Low assistance, attention.

2 - Any low or free offers are not transferable. Here is why. They are meant as an enticement to get a GAMBLER into the house. They are betting $xx that this person will leave enough money behind in the casino to pay for the hotel room.

But, not know the hotel's occupancy and the details of the offer, it is worth a call. But, slim pickins I think.

I'd have to agree with nostress. If the guy was a player he'd be getting a room comp, not a low rate.
    Still, never hurts to try.

I agree with the above. However, he might just be getting “casino rate”. If that’s the case, then it wouldn’t be too difficult for you to get that rate as well. Of course, at many properties, the casino rate isn’t all that fantastic of a deal. You can often find similar rates through the discounters or probably via some of the deals that Sonya et al. occasionally post.

That said, I'll also echo the "it can't hurt to try" comments.

Thanks for the input. Another Venetian question? If I signup for their players card online and then call will that make any difference whatsoever? I am a platinum player at my local casino And want to stay somewhere nice. How much would I have to play at the Venetian to get comped rooms on my next stay. I play 50-100/spin on roulette and will be there 4 nights. I figure about 20 hours of play at that level. Or should I try the bellagio or Wynn?

It's a crap shoot on whether or not you'd get a room at that level of play. Last year, I'd say probably not.

This year with their increased offers, I'd say probably 2-3 days during the weekdays, maybe even during a weekend, depending on the weekend.

Thanks. Do u think there is another nice hotel that I would have a better shot at? Would Paris or Caesars be better?

I don’t play roulette so I’m not 100% sure, but I can make some assumptions:

On a single 0 roulette table, the house advantage is roughly five times what it is for blackjack. I assume that casinos figure that blackjack players make about double the number of bets per hour as roulette players do. If these assumptions are true, then your $75/spin roulette action is worth the same amount to the casino as my $200/hand BJ action. And that level of play gets me free (standard) rooms anywhere on the strip.

So, I would guess that you will not have a hard time scoring offers for free rooms from V/P (perhaps even with a small amount of free play or resort credit) if your play is as you describe it. Of course, like I said, I’m not a roulette player so my assumptions could be off.

Also, I think your comp results with Bellagio and Wynn would be roughly the same as they would be with Venetian. They all seem to comp at about the same level in my experience. And, I can’t imagine there being any benefit in signing up for the Grazie card online. Just wait until you get there.

Actually, I think it's been more difficult these days at the V/P than the other 5 star resorts. They've loosened up in the past few months though. I'm speculating since I haven't stayed on a comp at V/P in years... I really don't like gambling there. They had me rated at $150/roll craps player and that used to be enough to get weekday rooms and some weekend rooms. They told me I'd have to achieve $250/roll to get RFB at craps.

I just don't know enough about how they rate roulette. So, citing that they've loosened up recently, Assuming that the HA is higher at roulette than craps and blackjack, I'm guessing that his level of play would get him a weekday room. If it's anything like craps... that level of play may be weekday worthy. If it's rated more like blackjack, I'd say it would be a coin-flip on weekdays.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with any of the CET properties. Their rooms are crappy and the express comps aren't good either. If you just want a free room somewhere... it's not that hard to get a free room with CET. So, any of those you mentioned, putting in the time and play you suggested would probably warrant a room at any property you want. You won't find any European roulette tables at CET resorts at that level though (I'm guessing since their HA is the highest of all chains).

If you want comps, set aside $1k for slots... or have someone play slots on your card for you. Slot play is by far the easiest way to get comps anywhere.

I'm a little unsure of what you're asking, but about seven years ago one of my wife's good friends's Uncles was a VIP-type at Bellagio.

Her friend and husband flew out from Philadelphia and we met them out there for a March Madness Weekend. The Uncle lived in Jersey but got us two rooms for a FRI-SUN for a total of around $150/room. It was a grade over the standard room there, so he definitely got us a deal.

That was quite awhile ago, however. I remember Georgetown won me a grand on three separate wagers in their Tourney game vs North Carolina...and that was really the most important thing.

If the guy can get you a deal, do it. The Venetian rooms are a bit dated, but they're still perfectly fine (especially if you get a significant discount on the rate).

The Venetian rooms were renovated a few years ago. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly. I know they've been renovated... I just thought it was a few years ago that it was completed.

    They're nice, nonetheless.
