I managed to get upfront comped for 2 out 4 nights @ Aria.

I've never had an mlife card, so I have a few questions.

The host told me I need about 6K points per comp night of stay. So I'm assuming that 24K total will get the last two nights wiped off my bill.

    Here's what I'm wondering:

Is the talking about 6K base points or tier points?

If she is talking about tier points, do they have to be earned gaming, or will tier points earned spending at an MGM prop suffice as well?

Do the points need to be earned @ Aria, or any mlife property? In general, is the host happy so long as I rack up mlife points, or is she going to be focused on my Aria play specifically?

    Thank you.

You should Email her back to get clarification, I'd be interested to know as well.

But... It has to be base points. 6k tier credits are extremely easy to earn in one day.

And, I would also assume this is just your gamble... which is probably why she expressed it in terms of base points (earned for gambling) and not tier credits (earned on everything).

The host only gets credit for play at her hotel ie aria. Other mlife hotels will do her no good at all.

I was thinking it had to be 6K base credits as well, but 18K coin through for a regular room seems VERY steep.

I know Wynn is looking for 3K points which is 4500 coin through.

It is most definitely base points. Thats what all my hosts at MGM casinos use when talking abou these things. Since that was the old way of rating you. Still a lot for an upfront comp. MGM is 1/2 of that.

That's very steep for slots that could cost you 5-15% theo.

VP would be about $60k with a potential theo around .5%.

I'd stick to VP if you're going to play the machines.

$18,000 coin-in might seem high but comped rooms are going to be from your primary comps...which are 27% (i think this is the last figure I remember reading) of your Theo...

I am not sure how the theo calculations work for slots...same idea as tables I would guess but I don't know how much coin-in per hour one should assume. I guess if we assume 1 spin every 2 seconds so 1800 spins per hour on a dollar slot (~4% HA) max bet $3 we are looking at $216 theo per hour...so roughly $58 primary comp per hour...so 3-4 hours a day will give you around $18,000 coin-in and will be about enough primary comps to cover a regular room at Aria

Slot holds are more on the 6%-13% range. I'd say about 9% on average.

yeah, 9-10% is generally the number that the casinos use as an average to base your comps.

Doesn't it vary by slot denomination? I know the HA varies by denomination.

yes, of course it varies on every machine. the 9-10% figure is just the standard that they use when they talk about coin-in required for comps and such.

    Yup,

On the strip your looking at about:

    5%-6% on $5+

    7%-9% on $1

    8%-10% on .25

    9%-15% on .05 / .01

Just a guess, I know the 'official' numbers exist.

BlackJack players can think of it like this. 18K coin through with a 10% hold is the same as:

$750/hand for 4 hours with a 1% HA and 60 hands per hour.

I just think that has to be more than a 1 night standard room, at least it should be. I must be missing something here.

For you BJ players, what do you get at Aria with that level of play?

$18,000 coin in a day for a regular room at Aria is ridiculous.

I've gotten comped in a V-Suite at THEhotel for 5 nights including the weekend for $18,000 coin in total.

yeah, I don't believe those numbers are correct. on the other side, if the host was talking about TCs, 6k would only be $1250 coin-in, which is only maybe $125 theo, which is nowhere near enough. I think maybe the host was talking about 6k coin-in per day, which would be around $600 theo, which would make sense for a $200/night comp.

I e-mailed the host, and will let you know what I find out. Here's my working theory. I'm staying for 4 nights. I know that Wynn is looking for 4500 coin in, and she told me they were similar to Wynn in what they required. I have done some online research and the number 1250 keeps on being thrown around.

    1250 X 4 nights = 6,000.

1250 X 3 coin in per point = $3,750 coin through (close to Wynn)

3750 X 10% = 375 X .27 = 101.25 in primary comps (this seems a little cheap to me, but it's not to far off the rack rate average of 2 weekdays, 2 weekend nights (and let's be honest, the rooms cost them less than that to give))

All facts considered, I think when she said we are looking for 6,000 points to comp a room, she was talking about the trip not per night. We will see how she responds, and I'll report back. It'd be nice to have something in writing anyways.

Well 6k points for a 4 night trip would make sense...if they are "close" to Wynn...and Wynn wants 4500 per day...4500/day*4days = 18000 coin-in...which is exactly 6k base points (1 point per $3 coin-in on slots)

    Mystery solved :)

Just confirmed that they are looking for 6K base points per day or $150/hand 4 hours on BJ.

Still doesn't add up I tell ya.

oh well, half the stay is up front comp, guess I'll just have to count on paying the rest or getting real lucky.
