I am a 47 yo male in Key West FL looking to relocate in October. I have been a server, bartender, and manager in restaurants both private owners and corporate for the past 20+years. Can someone give me an honest answer if jobs in these positions are difficult to obtain and if companies are really hiring? I am very reliable and hard working and always on time. I know that goes a long way but just seeing if people are really hiring. Thanks for any and all help.

In general the job market isn't great but it's ok for what your looking for. I don't think your question really should be can you find a job but if you can make it once you get one. As in what is the tourist market. Vegas is still pretty dead because of the economy. Lot's of value trippers from California who are young people looking for a cheap vacation. I would say the tip based economy here is pretty soft about 70% of the time. Like I said I don't think finding a job will be your problem. Lot's of flakes in that line of work as I'm sure you know so their always looking for people.

With your experience you will find work. However, you must be flexible. Chances are you'll be on call at first. You might need more than one job to make it, but once you prove yourself a bit. You'll be able to pick up more steady and desirable shifts. If your personality really shines, you could secure something reliable off the bat. Search employer websites, there are literally hundreds of job postings.

    Sorry, not true

    Revenues are up 7%...
The closest to dead I've ever seen Vegas was the week after Labor Day maybe 5 years ago...
Service industry is constantly looking for help. NOW, it may not be of the calibur you are looking for...but there are jobs.
That being said, I would not relocate until you have secured a job.

Revenues are up 7% from face down in the grave. Let me ask you a question, when is the last time you saw a single person in any high limit area? The strip is dead and the people on it aren't spending much, I'm there every day.

Caesars, which operates 10 casinos on or near the Strip, reported a 2.9 percent decline in net revenue for the first quarter earlier this month. But what troubles the analyst community was a net loss of $217.6 million, or $1.74 per share.

How the company, which has more than 50 casinos across the U.S. including four in Atlantic City, can service its debt, is the pressing concern.

“The Caesars story remains relatively the same in our eyes,” Macquarie Securities gaming analyst Chad Beynon told investors recently. “Fundamentals continue to be soft in most of its markets and the significant debt load continues to be an overhang on the company.”

Sadly I don't live there (I say sadly because it was my destination of choice but my wife has overruled the decision  )
But we were just out there last week and the strip was packed. Yes of course it was Memorial Day and I have no idea if numbers are up or down from Memorial Days in the past, but it was busy.

I spoke with several locals, in an attempt to convince my wife to rethink her position on the move, and most of them were very upbeat about jobs and employment overall. They were talking mostly service industry which is what it looks like OP is interested in.

$0.02 from a guy who doesn't live there, so take it for what it's worth.
