I keep reading a lot of you say that comps are decreasing in some fashion.

But I have not found that to be true. I'm by no means a big player, my play is usually somewhere between 1-4k a day.

My corporate offers are bigger than ever and my host comps have been the same for years. If anything, I'm getting pursued more and more by other casinos and their hosts.

I go about 4 times a year for a week at a time and don't pay for room, food, or booze. Food and booze is usually under $200 a day.

I'm a low maintenance client as all I do is gamble, with a break to eat, or occasionally go to their gym, rarely the spa.

Are you all really seeing your comps decreasing?

Personally, I have not had anything reduced, except for maybe the large amount of promo chips I used to get. However, one of the stories I relayed earlier did happen to a player that has a $1000 average bet, sends in front money, and yet they are telling him that since you have been absent for so long, you need to prove your play level before we go overboard on the comp bandwagon. Mind you, it is still big suite, RFB, but just not the overkill like before.

Others may have different views, it is hard to pin down as it seems to have no consistency between the different play levels. Some players that play much lower seem to get more than some larger players.

I know for a fact though that the comps are being scrutinized more closely, being reined in on a tighter leash, and that the hosts are accountable more now than before if they have overcomped a player. They have to fill out reports, explananations, reasons, etc, etc. Therefore, they get more gun shy about what they can do either upfront, or on the back end.

well 1-4k is a huge difference. 1k is nothing. 4k is getting close to something.

as far as my comps, I haven't seen much reduced except for promo chips. getting those these days requires an act of God. if anything I think the top level comps are easier to come by. they've reduced the requirements for places like the Mansion and Shadow Creek, so that lower players can get in when there's availability. it used to be based on CL and if you didn't have it, they left it empty.

but there's definitely a tighter reign on hard comps like airfare, promo chips, billbacks, etc, etc. soft comps are still about the same as they used to be.

I agree with VBJ that the hosts are required to fill out more paperwork and crap when the overcomp a player, so they're more gunshy. we've both talked to our hosts who have confirmed that. but the good hosts will still go to bat for you and do what they can because they know that a good player that's reliable and consistent is worth more than having to sweat a little with their superiors. the bottom line is that their boss is looking for results and if they bring in the big theo and big actual losses, they comps will take care of themselves.

Has your play changed over the past few years. Like the above post - if you once played in the $1k range and have moved up to the $4k range... comps will get better.

I think comps where much easier to obtain in the past. I have experienced less comps over time and have put in more play. I ussually play slots and my play has gone up over time. I also play table games. I know by experience that I used to get food comps by just asking for them back in the day and now it is much harder.

I get a ton of mailers and e-mails but it seems like I'm not getting the level that others are. What games do you play mainly?

I can only comment on my own experience and on what I've heard from others. As for comps overall in Vegas, I don't know. But the main casinos I stay at have been M and GVR. My comps at M are the same, but my comps at GVR (and Stations in general) have disappeared, as they seem to have for most out-of-towners. As a result, I'm no longer going to GVR or any Stations properties. I'm looking for a new second place, and will be giving the Palms a try a few times over the summer.

I've read a lot of posts complaining about MLife comps recently, but I have no personal experience with this program.

I've learned not to get too attached to a particular casino in Vegas, as, eventually, they all seem unpredictable as to their attitudes towards you. If I like a place and get RFL, I tend to give all of my play to them while I'm staying there. If the comps go away, so do I.

When the economy improves, comps diminish. Supply and Demand. More people are going back to Vegas and margins are improving, ergo they can spend less on marketing (comps) since they don't need to drive as many people in. They will come regardless.

I will try to be a little more clear on what I think has changed
    1. I used to get free food by just asking with green chip play roughly 10 years ago.
    2. I would be invited to lavish slot tournmanets at Mandalay Bay with big band and gourmet meals. Over time it went from sit down to finger foods in a 3 year period. The prize pools were very nice as well. For the same play i get nothing
    3. I used to get monster slot tournament offers form the palms with 100k prize pools with 150 or so people. Now they have 25k pool and more people
    4. I used to get unique offers from the palms for golf outings or special parties and don't get anything for the same play.
    5. Mbay used to have comp/cash program and I used to get a lot of money at the end of my trip like 200 cash back. I did not have nearly the bankroll I have now and I got more
    6. Venetian used to supply me with free rooms and cash back for grzie points and I was a gold member. My comps dried up and I have not been back.
    7. I still get rooms no problem about anywhere but the extra nice things are not there for players with my bankroll(3-5k a trip for 3 days) I sometimes have lost more
