    Hi all,

Headed to Mandalay Bay next week, hoping to spend one day at pool just being lazy. I am flying solo so didn't think I wanted to get a Cabana or daybed. But I did notice that for $50 you could rent a padded lounge chair for the day. As a solo, these appealed to me so I didn't have to get out there early to fight for a chair or worry about someone taking my chair while I swam, did the lazy river, etc.

Anyone ever done this before? worth it?

yes i have done it, and yes it is worth it. you are in the sand in front of the wave pool. nice to have a small side table and umbrella. they will also move the umbrella through the day as the sun moves (per your liking).

...looks like i get in about 26 hours before you.

Sorry to ask on this posting but are there free seating in the pool area too?

Yup, lots of free seating around, may have to get there early to get some though, depending on how busy it is.
We were there 3 weeks ago, wander around and find a couple loungers we like the location of. Spend a couple of hours going back and forth between the loungers and the pools. JUST as we walk up to them some family walks up in front of us and *&^#( of a woman tosses her purse on my lounger. We had our sandals between them, drinks between them and towels on them. My wife is ahead of me and and as this bitch is reaching for our stuff she asks "what are you doing? we're sitting there?"

Woman replies back with "well we were earlier". As they're standing there with fresh towels in hand and all their stuff. "Um, no you weren't" There were plenty of open loungers around but for whatever reason they liked these ones. Husband stood back all meek and mild LOL

She picks up her purse in a huff and walks 15 feet to some open loungers. There were probably 30 open loungers within eyesight of us with no towels on them. Why she chose ours I have no idea...

Maybe they'd tossed towels on them at 9am? who knows? Not sure what the point of this post is but it's amazing how rude some people can be. Either A: thinking they can "reserve" a lounger all day or B: just show up and move peoples stuff when there's plenty of other open areas around.

Somehow I didn't see these but reserved seats and an umbrella for shade would be nice. Going to have to remember this for July LOL

Yes, lots. But Mandalay Beach can be quite a zoo. It can be hard to find a seat on a weekend, and equally as hard to keep the seat.

this is me on a reserved lounger (those are my toes).

Stupid question, but I have read conflicting reports. Does the $50 rental fee include the umbrella, or is that additional?

We are spending a few days at Mandalay Bay after the Cosmo on our next trip in August because my fiance wants to hang out by the pool. She likes being able to jump in the water then come out, sit in the sun and read so reserving a lounge chair for her is probably the best possible thing I can do right?

How does it work? I've never reserved a chair or cabana or anything at a hotel, certainly not from one as large and busy as a vegas casino. I imagine I can just call ahead, put it in my fiance's name and then is there like an "usher" type person who walks you to your spot? How do people know it's reserved?

    Includes umbrella.

Keep in mind that on peak weekends, I think the chairs can run as high as $150.

To reserve, just call the Mandalay Bay concierge or you can even reserve them on their website - it will be the last item on the list when the results are returned (https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/bookingengine.aspx?pid=278&host=hotel)

The area with the reserved loungers is roped off, and there is a host station at the entrance to escort you to your seat.

Thanks for the information! I think I'll book it for her as a surprise. Having the area roped off is a bonus to keep the kiddies away! :D

    2 questions

    1. Do you have to pay to rent the rafts for the river or buy? Any idea as to cost?

    2. How much are the cabanas?

You buy the tubes and they can only be used in the lazy river. Medium ones were $18 and large ones were $22. Or you can bring your own.

Cabana costs vary quite a bit depending on size, location and day of the week.

I know at the Monte Carlo the rental is $14/day.
We need to go buy some locally before our next trip. I heard that they'll inflate them for you but I personally can't verify this.

Am I understanding correctly that I can bring my own innertube and thus will not need to buy or rent one?
Are there any rules like the tube must be clear/see through or anything else?

I have no idea what the rules are. When we were checking in there was probably a total of about 30-40 people in 2 lines. A few already had their tubes blown up and were ready to hit the pool. LOL

I asked at the gate going into the pool if we could bring our own. "Sure". Just keep in mind you can only use them in the lazy river.
