In August, I will be celebrating my 55th and I'm thinking celebrating it in Vegas. I'm asking for opinions here. What do you recommend for a divorced man celebrating his 55th Birthday in Vegas. All inputs welcome. A bit about me: I go four times a year and have a few friends that live/work there. So I know Vegas very well. Favorite Show: Rock of Ages Favorite Hotel: Palazzo, Signature, The Hotel Favorite casino: Any one that I win (I play BJ and VP) Favorite casual restaurants: Grande Lux, Grimaldi's Favorite Fine dining: Table 10, Brand Just an FYI, My LV friends are asking me what I want to do for my birthday in Vegas, hence the question.
I second the Hookers and Blow. (As long as your not in a drug free workplace.) Really though, you should visit some of the places you love if they haven't been worn out. What about your friends, what do they say? I would think, especially if they hang with you that they know what brings a smile to your face.
Bob, I too am having a 55th birthday in the very near future and if I happened to be in Vegas at that time, there probably wouldn't be anything special I'd do. Just another day.
I'll celebrate my 53rd birthday in Las Vegas in late July. I plan to do the big Ziplines in the hills near Boulder City. (We have done this on two prior trips and I love the adrenaline rush). I may also do a spa day and spend some time lazing by the pool. We might see Steel Panther if they happen to be playing at HoB that weekend. As another poster mentioned, your friends may have some good ideas for you. Or you can just do the things you enjoy. Either way, you are in Las Vegas and its your birthday - that's a big win!
If I scheduled to be in Vegas on my birthday I would want to do something that I normally wouldn't do. This would take some thinking. For example, maybe try a high end restaurant. Have $1-2K dedicated for the High Limit room. Take one of the tours or drive a race car. It really doesn't have to be too elaborate just something that you wouldn't normally do so it makes the day stand out more. Now, if my friends were also offering to pay for a big bash I have plenty of other suggestions.
Jersey Boys. You don't know me, but trust me on this one. Best show I've seen in Vegas. My wife is your age -- she loved it too. If you like Brand, you'll love Gallagher's for the same price.
Tell them you wanna go downtown to Fremont Street, get totally hammered, and dance on the bartops with the girls outside the Golden Gate. Oh wait, that's what I'll be doing for my 50th BDay in Vegas at the end of July!!! But seriously, go do something you've never done there, or see something you wanted to do, but haven't. It's your BDay in Vegas, so make it memorable; maybe even "Hangover" style with the wolf pack in tow.
You could spend the day casino hopping taking advantage of birthday promotions. It has been a long time since I was there for mine, but some I remember doing are 2-4-1 meal at Magnolias in Four Queens, free $25 table bet at Santa Fe Station, Gold Coast & Orleans had a swipe deal. Fitzgeralds used to have free points, not sure if it still applies now that it's The D. There may be more, but those are the ones I used to do. Have fun & good luck! -
