The where would you move to thread, had gotten me thinking. My wife and I are both pretty much over the snow here in NW Pennsylvania, 100+ inches last winter. So we are talking about moving in about 5 years or so. I would have never given Health care much thought when looking, but after this weekend its #1

Saturday night I woke up to my wife sitting up in bed watching TV, she said she had indigestion real bad, and her back hurt, with very slight chest pain, but she would be fine. I made her get dressed and took her to the hospital. She argued the whole way there.

We walked in the door at 3:01 am by 3:35 am, the cardiologist was out telling me they were done, she had nearly 100% blockage in one artery, by 4 am she was in the ICU. I can’t express how thankful I am, to the Doctors and Nurses at Hamot UPMC she should be out of ICU this morning, and home in a few days.

And now I feel even better about inviting another couple on our June, 30th anniversary trip, she’s a ER nurse at a different hospital.

In our opinion the health care in Vegas is poor and lacking enough doctors. There are month's waiting lists to see certain specialists.

My wife bowled with a woman whose husband needed to see a heart specialist. He called and they put him on the waiting list...estimated time 3 months! We actually moved back to WI and he was still waiting.

My wife had several issues with a highly recommended OB-GYN.

Just our opinion, take it for what it's worth. It did appear in the negative column on both our lists when we did one of those "reasons to stay, reasons to go" lists

I doubt Vegas would have made our short list anyway, but now I think its going to be a lot harder to decide where we will move.

Many "experts" recommend moving to a city with a good training hospital affiliated with a university.

And I'm so glad you got your wife to the hospital! I'm afraid if that was me, there is no way my wife would get me to go. And then...

Smart money would have been on me, being the one to have a heart attack. I smoke to much, drink to much, and barely exercise. Two of my brothers have had heart attacks, so I have read up on the signs, and was sure that’s what the problem was.

One of the nurses told me their goal, is to have anyone having a heart attack in surgery within 15 minutes of arriving at the hospital. If we ever do move or even snowbird somewhere, it will have to have great health care.

    Two words: Kaiser Permanente.

We're outside the network now, and how we miss it. Being Kaiser-eligible again is a goal.
