    I was curious about the Greyhound express service from LA to Vegas, if it was as convenient as the LuxBus out of Anaheim, it would be an excellent option with even better schedule options. So I had to get it out of my system and give it a try.

    Their advertising makes it look like a luxury service with good amenities, but after experiencing it first hand I was greatly disappointed. I don't want to go into great detail, but in summary if you have other options to taking Greyhound, then do not take Greyhound.

    The Good:

    * Low Cost - $50 Round Trip is a realistic price.
    * Express Service to Vegas (5 hours)
    * Express service at several departure times in a day.
    * Driver acted professional and was helpful.

    The Bad:

    * LA Bus Terminal is in a bad area
    * No parking at LA bus terminal.
    * The bus is not as comfortable as they advertise.
    * Seating is not as nice as they advertise.
    * No attendant.
    * No Snacks.
    * Some passengers recently released from prison.

    My friend and I took the Greyhound Bus from the Bay Area to college in N. California (180 mile drive) after a holiday. This was our freshman year and neither of us had a vehicle then and our parents bought us tickets to return back to school. Sounded simple enough... we got off 12 miles later in Livermore and hitchhikled for what was the first and ONLY time in my life. I was 19 and the bus sucked... We ended up getting picked-up by an old-dude in a big Cadillac, who smoked cigars the whole trip... he took us almost all the way there. He was gross and his car stunk, but it was still WAT better than the bus!!!

    I took a Greyhound from Seattle to Minneapolis after my discharge from the Navy. This was during the mid 90's when every small town had a stop, and the bus made every stop. I think it took 2 days. But I had just spent 17 days on a ship with no land, so it wasn't too bad I guess. I will say this- I didn't sleep, there are some scary folks on them things

    See the sticky "Disneyland to Vegas" above. The LuxBus is a class service.

    I'm flying to Vegas on my next trip, it's expensive for the 500 miles round trip, which is why I'm trying several transportation options, but driving or flying still seem to be the best options overall. A flying car would be a good compromise, I mean this is the 21st Century.

    Also of note, I purposely took a Sunday return at 5PM, to see how traffic was, and it seems that the delay is now 1.5 to 2 hours or more due to traffic at Jean NV, breakdowns, accidents, etc.

    Cheers

    Try megabus. Different crowd. Better experience. Extraordinarily low rates. Greater comfort. International service.

    I'm taking the Lux Bus from LA to Vegas in 2 weeks. This will be my 3rd time and everything has been great. There is a thread up above. I highly recommend the Lux Bus over Greyhound, in fact i would NEVER take Greyhound, i'd rather walk......LOL.
