    My Trip Report

    April 7-12, 2013

Our trip started early on Sunday morning, as we had a very early morning flight. I was worried about the Southwest cattle call, but it worked out ok. Got to Las Vegas about 9:30, and over to the rental car anex. I'm still amazed people don't have membership cards, and will stand in those longs lines. I zipped on to the Dollar kiosk, and no one was in line. They told me to hop in my car, and have a nice vacation! 10 minutes later, we were at the Orleans.

DeAnn and I each used VP Tournament room nights to get rooms for us, and her mom, who accompanied us on this trip. We wanted two room next to each other, and the girl at the desk said that would take an hour or so. We were hungry, so we decided to grab a bite to eat. After breakfast, we checked in to a couple of rooms right off of the elevators on floor 11. After a quick unpack, it was gambling time. We all put $20 each into a Megabucks machine, and turned it into $120. I said, "We doubled up right out of the gate, so let's quit there, and call it a nice win". The ladies agreed, and we cashed in, slpit up the loot, and everyone took off like a fart in the wind, in their own direction. I was ahead after one night, and the girls both had some wounds to lick.

Monday, we played a bit at "home", and then went downtown. Downtown simply consisted of us going to MSS. This is kind of a theme with DeAnn, and her mom isn't too far behind: They plop their asses some place, and that's where they stay. They hadn't played blackjack all trip, so they decided to play here. Well, they played for about 5 hours from 2pm til 7ish, when I finally said, "We need to eat." I had played enough craps and cards to get a comp for $60 at 777, and the lady watching De and mom play tossed them another $15. We ate a nice meal while the final game of the NCAA tournament was going on. It was quite loud inside 777. I had $500 on the "over" in the game, but chicked out at the half, and tried to get a 'middle' and win twice as much by betting the second half "under". That bet lost, and I only made a couple hundred on the game. I still had a great night over-all, and when we drove back home, I was still ahead for the trip after two days.

Tuesday was another comped breakfast for us, and more of the same on the floor. The girls got nicked on penny slots and video poker, and I would take everything I won at craps, and piss it away at VP. This whole trip was a bloodbath for me at VP. After three days of poker machines, and about 18-21 hours of play......I had THREE 4oks!!!!!! That's not a typo. Three four of a kinds, and all crappy ones. I would guess I would have been up about 2 grand on the trip if not for VP, instead, I was only up $500. (Only because I made the dice talk at craps, and some other shooters had great runs, too.) The only good hit on VP came in the tournament, where I had four 9s on the last hand of the first round to keep me above the 1,100 point mark. In the afternoon, I hit nothing, and limped in at 900. We hit Sam's Town today. Sam hit me back. This was the first place that dice slapped me in the face, VP kept it's strangle hold on my wallet, and blackjack wanted no part of me, either. I got comps for us at their shitty buffet, and that was insult to injury! We limped home, and the Orleans was happy to finally win some money off of me too, before I limped up to bed. I always have a stretch like this, and now I was in the hole a couple grand.

Wednesday I played the final round of the VP Tourney, and hit 4A for a decent total of 1800+ I was just shy of 4,000 for the event, so I knew I would get some money. Turns out I finished 33rd, and got $50.......I needed it!

We went to South Point today, and it was so-so. It chewed up more than it gave out, so I was getting deeper into the hole. We left there and headed to the Strip. I wanted to stop at one of the nicer places and pick my daughter up a t-shirt. I decided to "comp" myself to the shirt. I tried to do the same thing a few years ago with a Wynn polo for myself. I was NOT going to pay $80 for a shirt, so I put some money on the craps table, and promptly lost a few hundred bucks trying to "not" buy the shirt! Well.....Same thing this time! LOL. I didn't lose as much, but I did lose. I took the rest of my buy-in to a BJ table, and actually managed to get to the plus side. Enough to "comp" her shirt! After that, we went back home, and the gals went to bed, and I played on. The tide turned, and I got about $1500 of my cash back on a nice heater on the dice table. Now, I was less than a thousand in the hole after 4 nights, and I was ok with that.

Thursday I was up and ready to go, and DeAnn was still putzing around. I neglected to mention she had a terrible cough that was harranging her the whole trip. It kicked her butt pretty good, and today, she said she would just meet me downstairs. I was walking throught the casino, ready to keep the winnings pilling up towards the plus side again, when a progressive bank of VP caught my eye. I don't know how I had missed this bank, since it is right on Main Street, but the meter was up to $7,770! That's almost twice what a dollar machine SHOULD pay! I had to plunk a hundy into this puppy! Well, I was about halfway into it when mom walks up. She just happened to be walking into the casino for her morning assault on the machines when she noticed it was me sitting there. We talked for a little while, and I would hit the button here and there, and she finally said that she was going by her "bank of machines in the corner". (I felt bad, because this poor woman hadn't won shit the entire trip. She had been to the ATM twice, and was looking to make a third trip that morning, since her check had just been deposited.) Well, I was about done with the "dream machine" as I only had 3 spins left, so I crack the button, and get two high clubs, and I hit the redraw and watched the other three cards march into place!!!!!!! "HOLY SHIT!", I cried out, as I stumbled up and back from my chair!!!! I just placed my hand over my open mouth like a school girl, and was in shock for about 5 seconds. I then snapped a picture with my camera, and one with my phone, to send to people back home. (Of course, I didn't 'save' the phone one, I was so excited!) One guy playing the progressive bank congratulated me, and everyone else got up and left like I had just shit my pants! Screw'em!........Maybe I did a little??? LOL!

I called DeAnn, and told her, "Are you coming down here?" She said she was almost ready, and I said, "Well, I just won $7,776!" She said nothing for about 7 seconds, and I asked if she was still there?? She managed a yes, through tears. (She's too emotional!) I called her mom, and her mom didn't seem to understand what I was saying, so I said, "Just get back over here!! She made it over and gave me a hug while the slot people where grabbing my cash. She was very excited for me. She took a couple pics of me with the "win". I got paid, and they made me play off the royal. A few minutes later, DeAnn came down. I wanted her to see the royal, but I guess splitting the money is a close second! I pocketed $2500 for taxes, and split the other $5000 with her. (I gave the slot troll a hundy) We each gave her mom $300 of our winnings, so she didn't have to hit the ATM. (She needed to hit the ATM later that day anyway.)

I was back on my feet, and the trip was over tomorrow.......I was leaving a winner, if I had to stay in the room!

We headed to Ethel Ms to pick up some candy, and then to Sunset Station for the day. Gambling was a wash for me, except I finally started hitting VP payouts. (I know......I should shut up!) the girls were playing bj, and I would get a nice hit, and bring DeAnn's half over. She would joke with the dealers that it was great to have a "never ending" supply of money come her way while she was losing at the table! I said it would be great if she'd quit losing!

Friday was pretty non eventfull. I took one stab at blackjack with $500. It was gone in three straight hands. I hate playing blackjack at the Orleans. I was stupid to think this would turn out any other way.

I finished up about a thousand if you figure what I gave away, and taxes I have to pay. DeAnn broke dead even with what I gave her, and her mom lost more than I will tell anyone.......

I'll have more to add as we go.......I'm sure I forgot some stuff. I have already booked for May 23-28th! They need another shot at the title!

Yes. I'd rather pocket my taxes and be safe. I've never "washed even" on taxes.

    Awesome score.
    I would frame that picture.
Just wondering if you had the option of receiving the entire amount of having them take the taxes about for you.
