Recent post said that they were redone nicely and had positive feedback. Biggest negative is that they are pretty small but if you are solo, as I usually am that is not a big deal. I didn't mind the rather small Gold Spike, nor the Vintage Room at EL Cortez, nor Motel Six on Tropicana. I mostly like safe Quiet and clean. If I could get a larger room for the same money, I would, but for me a room is a place to hang my clothes, sleep, shave, shower and....you know. Please report back to this thread on your return with your assessment. There are a lot of us interested now that the GS and LVC are closing.

I haven't stayed here in quite a while. Probably about a year or so. When I did stay there just before the new rooms opened up I thought the hotel was very nicely appointed. NOTHING like I thought it was going to be. There is a keurig coffee maker in the room but they charge you like 6 bucks to use it. And 2 dollars for the bottles of Fiji water. But still.....I may have to start making this my home base as I'm running out of small places to frequent.

So long as you go in knowing and even appreciating that the place was built in 1906, you'll enjoy it. The rooms are clean and nicely appointed but the bathrooms are small and some have not been updated very much. Just don't go in with too high of expectations.

Don't plan on sleeping before 1:30 in the morning when Fremont entertainment stops. You'll just set yourself up for disappointment if you plan on crashing at 10.

If playing blackjack, keep an eye on the dealers...and I don't mean that in the way you're probably thinking! :wink2: Payout mistakes happen often enough there so just make sure the mistakes benefit you. I'm not saying this as a complaint, it's actually one of the benefits of playing there - so long as you pay attention.

If you've given them alot of play on table games, check with the guys at Club 1906 to see if you've earned any food credits. The numbers from the previous nights play are given to the Club 1906 guys to enter in the morning. They do things manually there so it takes awhile to update. So check in the afternoon for updated credits.

Have a great trip. I'm looking forward to your trip report already!

I stayed at GG in Oct. on the second floor. I was surprised that the window actually opened. No big deal, but I liked it.

I wrote a post on the place a little while back. I stayed there 3 weeks ago and have nothing but good things to say about the place.

I got a recently refurbished room and it was great. Clean, new bathroom with huge shower. It was on the smaller side compared to the strip but that was fine. I was at the back of the building so sound was never an issue.

I like the vibe in the casino. It is on the smaller side, again fine with me. I never had a problem with hand pays from the girls. Speaking of which, about 90% of them are very attractive and social. They do not oversee the craps games.

All in all I like the new direction of the place. It was slammed for the weekend I was there and I had a great time.
