I am going solo to Vegas, but meeting up with friends. The one thing I want to do is to have some fun with food. I usually just eat with whomever, wherever when I'm hungry, but this trip I want to be sure to plan two nice meals.

One is going to be at Japonais. I've been wanting to try it for a long time so it's first on the list.

I'm not sure what to do with the second one. If you could only do one place as a solo diner, where would it be?

I like all kinds of food, although I'm not much of a steakhouse person. It isn't that money isn't an object, but I'm not afraid to spend a bit for a real quality food experience.

I think L'Atelier would be a good choice since they have an extensive bar overlooking the kitchen -- I always like eating at a bar when dining alone.

I would go to Rao's inside CP and sit at the bar. Order a Caesar Salad and the meatballs for dinner. I would be very close to heaven at that moment!

    I've done Peppermill already. ;)

I thought about e. What do you think about it as a solo?

I will look at the other suggestions. Thanks!

You could do room service at Main Street Station. Couldn't help myself.

    :Þ Although, if I get downtown, I wouldn't mind hitting 777!

I like Central at Caesars. Haven't had a bad meal, they have a monster wine list, and you can sit on the side of the bar inside the restaurant and watch the people mosey by. Even better, I think they have a patio outside, to watch an even greater amount of foot traffic.

Might be inclined to do top of the world or Rao's.

How about Mon Ami Gabi for dinner. Ask for the patio, watch the Bellagio Fountains, and people watch.

I've never dined there solo, and I don't know if they would let solo diners eat on the patio but that's what I'd like to do some day.

If you want to do e, I'd recommend using all your Cosmo connections and magic Sonya powers to get a reservation ASAP.

My favorite is Sage. Great tasting menu, interesting cocktails and nice but not stuffy waitstaff.

Fancy lunch? Milos!!!! I'm feeling like RPMCanes and his love of Prime, but it is awesome...

e is perfect as a solo, its a semi-group meal so you end up talking to the people there. but yeah, its a little pricey, lol....$342 is with drink pairings and tip included, but I was drunk and happy enough to add some extra tip....agree with Skadoo, I never think about doing e again, but always think about Sage.

If you did want to do e it would probably be toughish to get a reservation for the weekend at this point.

Not 100% sure it's ideal for solo, first of all it's only 8 seats so you'd have to hope there was another odd numbered group there or that there were seats empty. It can be a group meal but you could get unlucky and get a not so great group (well or get in a group with BJ and myself).

I think I'd actually recommend L'atelier. There's a large bar that overlooks the kitchen and when I went solo I got a lot of extra attention for the waiter and chef etc during the meal. The food is almost as exquisite as next door and it is modern but not as much of a science experiment as e was.

    Here's my review of e

And then here's the trip report I did that had L'atelier

I'll save e for a group. I don't do the solo at a group table thing very well. I'm shy. :shy:

I have to admit that I looked at your report from L'Atelier, alexanbo. I peeked at the menu and La Cebette started calling my name. :) If I didn't do the tasting menu, could I do okay on my own picking a few of the tasters from the ala carte menu?

Sage is really wonderful, but solo I suggest L'Atelier for all the reasons already mentioned.

Grabbing a la carte would work fine, the couple that was sitting next to me did that and they enjoyed it. Besides Le Cebette i'd recommend La Caille to get the famous mashed potatoes.
