After the filthy fiasco of a classic room in the back tower in January, I decided to spend one night in a "deluxe" room of the Quad while still booked at the Cabana Suites downtown. I asked for a view overlooking Carnival Court, was given 1788 in the tower closest to the strip, and checked in around 1pm. No penalty for early check-in with my Total Reward membership, plus the resort fee did not apply as I had booked the reservation prior to CET announcing the fee rollout. My rate was $11.99 plus tax. Once again, the room, hallways, and elevators were absolutely filthy. My sink and tub did not drain, and there were unidentifiable substances everywhere, along with a nice long black human hair in my sheets that I saw when pulling down the covers to go to sleep. Right smack dab in the middle of where I was about to lie down. Took lots of photos. Here is a link to the full set:

Ugh. I hope I get a better room than that one next month! I have stayed twice at Quad in 3 different rooms, and all of them were in better shape than that one. But I had to move from Room 2 at 6:20am because a penthouse above me decided they should flood their room. A portion of my ceiling was about to collapse. The room was fine other than that though! lol

But yeah, it amazes me they are renovating the casino for Linq but not even daring to touch the poor hotel rooms there. But when I am a no-roller and can get the room (booked on Feb. 28th) for $96 total on Fri/Sat, I gotta take what I can get!

Thanks for the photos! It definitely warns ppl about what they might be getting into...

None of it is really all that surprising... its not just that the room only cost you $12 per night, but that its CET and they really don't do much of anything to upkeep the outsides of their properties so one would expect the same of the insides and the rooms.

Wowza. That's pretty bad. Here's to hoping they will renovate the insides after they're done glamoring up the externals.

I last stayed at the IP last year and the room wasn't as bad. Although to be honest I had not paid much attention. One thing I really like about staying there is the little terrace/balcony. It's nice to breathe in fresh air once in a while.

Now that CET has instituted the resort fee scam, I don't think I will be knocking on the QUAD's doors anymore. I'm sure I won't miss my low balling ways.

    Not fair to make stereotypes

While agree the above photos are disgusting (and conclude why I have not stayed at IP/QUAD)...to claim that CET does nothing to upkeep the outside of it's properties is bunk.

I think something about the construction is decreasing the morale of the cleaning staff. I am not sure what it is.

The level of cleanliness in the room is markedly different than the prior years I had been staying there.

This is not to rag on Quad because I once enjoyed it as IP and never had problems with cleanliness before.
You could find some wear in the carpet then but it is an old property, but you would not find the outright filth of now. I moved to two different rooms at QUad and witnessed the same thing in my trip in December, and now sam has stayed two different times and witnessed this.
This is not to say that people can't have different experiences. My own experience has never been negative until recently.

I also wanted to give Quad another shot next trip for exactly one night...but now I'm not so sure.
It's like the whole construction thing needs to finish before the staff might care for the rooms as they once did.

Those pics make my skin crawl. I am not some high maintenance diva who needs a snickers, but there is zero chance I would stay in that room. I get the fact that the room is unbelievabley cheap, but that shit is just too GROSS for me to not have turned around and asked for a room change or my money back. I think I saw the cure for AIDS growing on the bathroom tiles. You know bed bugs and all sorts of microscopic vermin are covering every square inch of that place. I thought it a dump when it was the IP, and it seems to have gone even further down hill now. :vomit:

I had absolutely no wait at all, which was a first. The agent was named Ben, a mature Asian or Hawaiian gentleman (or a unique combination). Very personable, as he checked me in awhile back as well (although not in January when my room was 5 times worse than this one).

I did get there quite early, and saw two shows at The Quad that night, so it was nice to be able to go right to bed. You can believe that my ultrasonic electronic bug repeller was plugged in next to the bed as soon as I arrived, and I sprayed every useful service with my pump bottle of Clorox hard surface disinfectant. I was prepared.

Others that I've shown these photos to have said "well, they are undergoing construction and all....". My response has been "the housekeepers don't do the construction any more than the construction workers make beds". One has nothing to do with the other, IMHO.

I have simular pictures from last Sept, and just cant believe that housekeeping does not remove shit from the walls and vents. There is also more to cleaning a toilet than the seat and the bowl....The nasty things that were behind the toilet and on the outside of the bowl were not things there from just the last person in the room, but obviously more than 6 months of previous people. Its amazing what a few gallons of paint can do for a room, and its too bad that isnt something that has happened in the last 20 years there. Carpet is meant to last approx 10 years in a home....I cant imagine how the hell it would last 40 yrs in a hotel....but apparently they think it does.

Did you spend much time at the property? How was it?

I was looking at CETs blog the other day, the photos they were showing off made the quad look pretty good.

Personally we didnt spend alot of time there...only from about 11pm or so for sleep, and the pictures they use of the rooms are OLD, not current...or in rooms that have been staged for photos. The group I was with, we all booked the same room catagory..(deluxe king) and not a one of them were the same, and only one was clean. The only positive thing I can say, is the beds were super comfy, and the location cant be beat.

True pictures can be seen on trip advisor from actual hotel guests....and are CURRENT

You got it Sam. I never leave home without my clorox, lysol, disinfecting wipes (hospital grade), bug repellant and a bed bug report for the hotel. I am so picky I probably need to stay at home but the Quad rooms sure look scary to me, I don't care how inexpensive they are.

Those pictures are exactly why you can go play $50 at the quad and they will offer you three free nights - which I have never had any desire to ever book lol.

I just got back from a 5 day stay at The Quad, and my experience was completely different. Our room (3146) although old, was clean and comfortable. I'll do a more thorough trip report later today, but I really enjoyed my deluxe 2 queen room. I had a pool view from the 3rd floor, and this was an added bonus for our week stay.

I'll do a trip report later in the day with more info, but I tuly enjoyed my stay there.

Ewwww! No way I'd stay there! I'd be afraid to even sit or lay down.
I'd def not want to walk barefoot across the carpet or in the bathroom.
I'm a bit of a germaphobe I'll admit it. So will you stay there again???

Guess I was lucky, I got a deluxe room in the back of the place when I stayed there last month. Looked like it was renovated and didn't have all the stuff that sam encountered. Yes, the hallways and carpets needed attention (needed new flat screen tv's and new furniture, etc.) but it didn't bother me. Hard to say, looks like Sam's room wasn't renovated.

There are two schools of thought here, when they finish their conversion to the Quad and (hopefully-probably) renovate all the rooms it is highly likely that they will also raise their rates. Hopefully by then the service, checkin in time, cleaning and rooms and overall hotel will reflect the conversion to the "new" hotel (wanna bet? lol).

The other thought is for us low ballers, we will put up with the conditions if they keep their rates low. we know that the low rates won't be around for long so for me I enjoyed my stay before the place changes to an "upscale" (ha ha) hotel.

I agree with the other poster, you get what you pay for, the IP/quad can't charge higher rates until they completely "upscale" the whole place and so for many of us it is a bargain to stay on the strip at that price. Unlike many of you I am not willing to pay higher prices to stay on the strip and most likely won't be staying on the strip once the quad raises their rates (and added resort fees).

sco, why would you want to try the place out again before renovations are completed? I think it's a coin flip whether you get an old room or a renovated room, guess you could ask for a renovated room but from what I see you would absolutely detest staying in the old (not renovated) rooms, IMHO. Maybe better to wait until the renovations are completed and then you can see if the quad is a place worth staying at again. right now they are in flux so no guarantee your stay will be enjoyable (more than likely it won't be I think).

Jees, I don't like the way the fire sprinkler looks. Good thing you didn't have a fire, I am sure that thing did not work. That's in unsafe room to stay in, I'd report it.

There is a lesson on getting what you paid for buried in those photos.
