Is the place in front of what used to be bills still selling dirt cheap corona?

I see casino royale (now a best western) has $1 Michelobs.

On my last visit I saw a beer cart somewheres between excalibur and Luxor (indise) and I was figuring they would have good deals...nope $7...

    What else is out there?

The key is to pay attention to the signs. They are everywhere once you start to look advertising cheap beers.

Also hit up every tee shirt shop, 7-11, and abc store. You can drink while walking down the strip so why not get a couple big tall cans at each of thise places and drink them while walking?

Its the smart thing to do.

Also every hotel has a gift shop that sells beer. not the cheapest but it will do in a pinch.

Drink in your room prior to starting the day.

That's Stage Door. I personally rank that sort of thing with going to Walgreens for alcohol. I do it for stocking my hotel room but not for drinking on the Strip:peace:

If you really want to penny pinch pick up a bottle of booze at any of the above places, ABC comes to mind. Get yourself a flask or even better an empty water bottle (easier if the liquor is clear) and carry your favorite spirits with you. When at a casino and not gambling go to the bar and ask for water, soda or your favorite mixer. Walk out of sight and pour your own drink. I do it all the time and it saves quite a bit of $.. I am not a big beer drinker and mixed drinks can get expensive when not gambling.

Here's my take on the VP at the bars. Sure you get a free drink when you play BUT in most cases (at least for me) when I do that, I will go to the bar, put in $20 into the machine to get my free drink and most of the time I will end up losing the $20. Even if you win you will probably end up playing till it's gone. So in essence you have paid (lost) $20 to get a free drink.. The same concept applies to any other gambling done just to get a free drink.. If while you are waiting for drink and gambling, you are more than likely losing (house advantage) just to get a free drink.. Why people do this has never made any sense to me.. On the other hand if you are at a BJ or Craps table (for example) and on a winning streak, why not take the advantage of free drinks (keep them coming).

My wife and I are far from cheap, but hate paying ridiculous prices for certain things.
While staying at the Bellagio last year, they had a special in the giftshop by the pool - (2) 24 ounce cans of beers for 6 dollars. They made for great starters while getting showered/ dressed for the night.

I am really confused with this post??

It sounds like you are saying that even if you win in VP, you will play until it's gone.

    What makes you say that??

    vP at the bar

From this board I learned The key is to drink fast and play slow. Tip well to drink really fast.

On a side note tried this at the Quad and got no service. I hate sitting at the bar and begging for a drink. Why the hell do they think I'm there.

I guess you are different than most people, because most people that I know will not quit when they are ahead especially at a game like Video Poker. They will keep playing in hopes of hitting a big hand or the jackpot (Royal Flush). If you are playing just to get the free drink well then yes, play to get even or win something at least , have your free drink/s and then leave, but if you play for any substantial amount of time you will probably lose. If I was playing craps or blackjack and was ahead a substantial amount I would and do leave at the right time (before I start losing a lot)

Ok, about drinking in the room - how do you keep your drinks cold if you don't have a fridge?

I once took off the lampshade, turned it upside down, put a garbage bag in it, filled it with ice and used it as an over-sized ice bucket...but there must be a better idea?

    1) Get a fridge. When we're in town for business (as most of our trips to Vegas have been the past few years) we pay to rent a fridge or look for a room that comes with them included. We do trade shows and need to take our lunch.

    2) Drink red wine:peace:

    3) Use the ice bucket or ice in the sink to chill a few beers or sodas to use as mixers (plus ice in the glass)

    4) Get a cheap Styrofoam cooler at the grocery store when I'm picking up alcohol & snacks.

These are all methods I have used, in Vegas and elsewhere:thumbsup:

I guess you mean beer?. You have to improvise.. Use the bathroom sink and fill it with ice and beer. If it's mixed drinks well that is easy. Most hotel rooms leave a small ice bucket and offer ice dont they?

re-fridges; Another option is a good soft sided folding cooler. I found a 3 piece set on clearance a good 8 years ago. The smallest one I used as a lunch bag so it's long dead. But, the other 2 are still in perfect shape. The bigger one fits about 18 beers and ice. A full case of 24 if you have ice packs. The medium sized one fits a 6 pack plus ice easily. It has gone on many car trips and then a few trips to Vegas. It weighs very little, folds almost flat, wipes dry, very easy to pack and still doesn't leak. Fridges are great and that's my first choice but they are subject to availability. If you don't end up with a fridge having a cooler like that with you saves you having to get a foam cooler. I'm not a big tree hugger but I don't like all those coolers going in the trash. When it comes time to replace these coolers, whenever that is, I'm going to try for something that kind of looks like a tote bag and make my husband carry it as his personal bag on the plane. Why not put it to use? As long as you don't mess up the lining.

Cousin Eddie always has excellent advice when it comes to cheap beer.

If you're not a beer drinker, you might consider having a small bottle of liquor on your person. Something you can swig back without mix if you had to, or can just as easy go into a soda. Malibu has a 4oz plastic bottle (light weight, less obvious) mixes with 7up or Sprite very well and I can drink it straight if I need to.

You remember in Vegas Vacation when Cousin Eddie (the other one) had a 6 pack attached to his belt? We've actually seen that. Guy had zip ties, a 6 pack on each hip. He'd grab one from one side, and then the other. My husband complimented him and he gave my husband one of his beers and a few spare zip ties. My husband never had the courage to do it himself though.

    Fridge

Yeah since the last couple of times i always had a fridge
Last time i had to ask for it as i only had a deluxe room( in suites fridge is stationary) but that was no problem within 30 minutes i had a lil fridge
I always stay 2,5 weeks so its handy to have a fridge for sure
If you really wanna be cheap go to a 99 cent store off the strip
But as i dont have my car with me im not that diff for those groceries or drinks and just get it at wallgreens( my first stop after packing out my backs so i can purchase rinse water, toothpaste, sunblock, snacks and light sodas and maybe if i feel like it some cheap spiked rum 17 bucks for 1,5 litres is a bargain)
