    Guys,

I am going to apologise right away for posting this but I am a total comps novice and wondered if somebody could explain and provide me with some more information.

I am paying my first visit to Vegas next month staying in the MGM Grand. Now I am aware what comps are and bottom line is the more you spend the more you earn, however I was wondering the following:

Do you have to lose "x" amount before you are entitled to anything?

Can you sign up and use multiple cards?

Do the casino/hotel contact you to let you know you are entitled to these "freebies"?

For low rollers, can you even earn anything decent? (spending probably $100 per day for 4 days)

Like I say, I apologise for the amateur questions, but I would be really grateful if you could let me know as much info as poss please

    Thanks in advance

Thank you for the information, in your opinion what is the best comps card out there?

Also, do you have to keep asking them to check the card to see if you are entitled to anything?

    Thanks again

I assume with the bankroll you mentioned, you're going to play slots, Caesars seems more slot friendly, but at the same time, the MLife (MGM) system is easier to check available comp amounts by simply swiping your card in a comp kiosk, BUT, MGM gives lower accrued value on certain games, primarily themed video games (Michael Jackson, Wizard of Oz, etc...), while Caesars does not do this.

IMO, at your level, forget getting anything this trip, sign up for a card at all the places you go to, play what you want and wait for offers to come in the mail, because your $100 a day x4 days is not going to earn squat.

Your comps will come later, once you get home.

since the Tropicana is right by the MGM...Sign up for a new player card there and they have a rebate program where you can get your losses back as FP if you go over there and play the next day...Might be something to look into for a first time visit to the Trop. Check out there website for details as I forget how it's set up.

Some places may give you a little gift for signing up for a players card....I got a t-shirt at Harrahs a couple years ago, and got some dice this year at Golden Gate (downtown). You may also get a little bit of free slot play when you get your first card at a casino.
If you have questions when in Vegas, just ask....most places are willing to help because they want you to come back and spend your money there.
    Have fun and good luck!

I think you can still get up to $200 back for this promo.

It might be worth it for you to check it out OP.

$100 per day for 4 days? I bet $100 per hand for 4 hours a day and sometimes I get diddly squat! Mlife is a funny system.

With $100 put at risk per day, you MIGHT get an offer next month to come back. But, for the current visit, not much.

Put on your business hat and go through the numbers. If you gamble $100, the most they will get from you is $100 - right? On the other hand, they may even have to give you hundreds back if you hit something.

In any event, why give away a $100 room to someone that is not going to give them much of anything back? Or a $50 dinner, etc.

    They don't.

I disagree with the people saying 100 per day won't get you anything. You may not get much, but if your playing slots, a 400 trip BR should get you 2-4k of coin in. That should be worth 50-100 discretionary at the end of your trip. Assuming that play is concentrated at one casino.

blizzard96, thank you for the tip about Tropicana. I will definitely check that out

I mainly wanted to know how it all works really, as I am from the UK and paying my first visit to LV.

With a $400 BR, you possibly can get offers in the mail in the future. My friend generally goes with $200-300 per trip and gets discounted rooms all the time. He plays $25 per hand in baccarat. If he looses right away, he just hang out.

If you win a big amount, you will most likely receive corporate offers in the mail for free or reduced rate rooms.

    Good luck!

Can you still ask for comps while at the tables, if you don't have a host?

You can ask, but unless you have some serious play, do not expect much. Pit critters can not give out much.

    What is your play level?

Low. The oh table I would consider asking on was 3 card poker, whereby nature of the game the bets are bigger.

Once we hit comped a pac of smokes playing low limit BJ. That was cool.

When would be the best time to speak to a host about getting a reduced room rate or even a comp room. It will be myself ($2500) bankroll and a buddy($5000) bankroll. We will be there four 4 nights. Playing mostly BJ. Neither one of us has a Bconnected card. Thanks
