Help me decide

Hello everyone,

I posted a while back about me and my husband visiting Vegas for our first time. It was last year, but we ended up not going, this year IS the year we are finally going!

We are booking with Expedia but we cannot decide on an hotel.
They all look pretty and all have something we want.

We are not gambler, not clubbers, not swimmers.
(Although my ultimate dream is to play blackjack. Love this game so much, except I wouldn't know how to act in a casino at all!)

We are going to relax, explore and visit.

Our picks so far are, Tropicana, Cosmopolitan, Vdara, Aria.

We love the Tropicana because of the location and look of the rooms.
We love the Cosmopolitan and Vdara because of the kitchenne in the room.
The Cosmo because of the balcony.
And the Aria because of the room and location.

As we are going to relax, there will be a day where we will stay in our room all day and order massages.

I just don't know which hotel pick at all!

Any help is much appreciated.

ARIA is very classy

 

If you aren't looking to do much gambling and are looking for a nice place in a good location, I would go with Cosmo.

 

I never understand why people have such a hard time making a hotel decision. If I'm a week in Vegas I maybe gamble/drink in the hotel one night. It's vegas you want to see it all. Really doesn't make much of a difference.

In your list I would choose Aria though :wink

 

I'd say Tropicana does not belong in that list, the others far out class it. The other three will give you a very nice experience, and they are all similarly located.

 

if u think time will be spent in your room, go for a strip view at Cosmo. I could sit on that balcony for days!

 

From your list I would pick Cosmo. Although I haven't stayed at any of them, I agree that Trop doesn't compare in any way to the others. I wouldn't consider Vdara since it is a non-casino hotel. The Cosmo location is better than Aria since it is right on the strip and not set way back like Aria, and you can't not like having a balcony. I've been on these forums a long time and I don't think I've ever read anyone stating "I wish I hadn't picked Cosmo."

 

Cosmo for location and strip view. Even better if you can get fountain view.

Vdara over Aria for kitchenette. (non gambler)

Often for less money and great for first timers would be Paris. Not as fancy, but if your first time in Vegas, you can keep busy everyday just walking and taking in the sights.

As to massage, go to a few of the Spa websites and check the prices. You might be shocked at the cost. And, some add 15-20% "for your convenience" If you order up to room, it is even more. And to be honest, the Spa atmosphere in Vegas makes it worth going to the spa vs in your room.

As for choosing the perfect hotel, can you give a few more details? Price range, length of stay, location preference, age range, pool preference, etc.

 

I would probably stay in the cheaper Tropicana for most of the trip, then switch to the Cosmo for the last day or two to lounge on the balcony, get massages, etc.

 

I have stayed at Cosmo and Paris is my regular home, and while I HATE the gaming at Cosmo, I will say it is a beautiful piece of architecture and modern design along with an immersion of art, between the photos, pieces of art and the video walls/screens, it really is a stimulating property.
The technical aspects of the room with the one touch start and off, and more, is very modern and forward thinking. Since you're going for vacation primarily, and not gaming, another aspect you may like is that the rooms come fully stocked with books to read. So you can sit on the balcony and read. Keep in mind, depending on the time of year, it can be way too crazy hot to use the balcony.

If I was going to LV, just as a vacation, no or minimal gaming, I would stay at Cosmo, hands down.

The only things I do not like has to do with gaming. The host I had (supposed to still have, I guess) is a (word that gets censored here), I found the floor staff arrogant or not very nice, their HL slot gaming starts at $25....no $5 machines....you go from $1 machines to $25. Their players club seems weak and is very limited (single property).

 

Based on your list and it being your first time, cross off the Tropicana.

 

If you want to save money (Tropicana) I would stay more center strip - Harrah's, Bally's, Flamingo but since you listed Aria, Vdara, Cosmo...I would do Cosmo w/ a stripview.

Have fun and don't be afraid to try BJ in the casino. Most hotels offer free lessons in the morning so go to one of those or if the limits still scare you then play downtown. Most of all have lots of fun, don't try to do it all in one trip since their will be many more! Welcome to the club!
