We are leaving for Vegas in 5 Days and staying the first two nights of our trip at the Golden Nugget. When we booked the room a couple months ago we booked the Gold Tower. It was the highest rate of the three towers. After doing some research online and seeing pictures of rooms in all three towers, I want to know what makes the Gold Tower so special? I thought the Gold Tower rooms looked pretty standard and actually thought the Rush tower rooms looked nicer. Is it just the fact that the Gold Tower is readily accessible right from the casino where as the other towers you have to walk a bit?

Not sure about the Gold tower, but the Rush Tower is sweet. Roomy, and nicely appointed, the bathroom is spacious too. Careful getting in the shower, very slick.

There are a couple of different options they call "gold" so it can be a little confusing. First, there's the standard Gold Tower rooms, which they call Gold Tower Deluxe. They are a step up from the Carson Tower and as you said, closer to the casino action. Elevators dumps you out pretty much right by the poker tables. There rooms generally do not cost much more than the standard Carson rooms, maybe about $10 extra per night.

Then there's Gold Tower Deluxe Pool View, which may cost just a little more than the above room.

And then there's Gold Club Luxury. This room gives you some more luxury and is only found on the top two floors, levels 16 or 17. You get freebies like use of the spa/gym, VIP check in, and use of the VIP lounge. You also get a TV in both the bedroom and the bathroom. Of all the GN rooms I've tried, which includes Rush, Carson, and Gold - this is my favorite.

Oh but wait we're not done, there's one more. The brand newly-remodeled Gold Rush Club rooms. This may be what you booked as it's the most expensive of the "gold" series. These rooms give you everything the Gold Club Luxury does, but adds more modern furnishings and free internet access. Plus bragging rights for trying out a new & exclusive room.

Never had a room at the Golden Nugget I didn't like. So no matter what, enjoy!

I had the Gold Club room in 2011, they are basically the old Gold Tower rooms modelled on the Rush Tower and on keycard floors.

They're smaller than the Rush Tower though, the bathrooms are smaller in the Gold Tower and you didn't have a separate water closet.

You get all the candy, water, line passes etc. but for me it's not worth the extra money and I'd sooner stay in a normal Rush Tower room.

from looking at the rooms on youtube it's as the prices go

Rush is best, then Gold and finally Carson which is the cheapest. That's not to say the Carson rooms are anything below reasonable. Friends of mine stay in them every year and are perfectly happy with them.
