was at ballys tuesday night playing a 5$ craps table , no one else at the table , just me
bought in put 5 on the passline and started to roll
not really paying any attention , security guard walks by and says " are you playing the firebet too ? '
i said no , he points out that i have rolled 5 of the point numbers and all i need is the 8 for all six
damn i cannot believe i forgot to play the fire bet !!!!
no i did not roll the 8 , but would i have won with 5 point numbers?
or do you need to roll all six ?
it says it pays for 4,5, or six numbers rolled ....not sure
i was kinda pissed at the time , for the lost chance
but i did show a guy watching the table the basics of craps and he started to play , he was really getting into it
he was kinda nervous and kept passing up his chance to roll , i finally got him to roll and he loved it
he was watching me hit the hard 6 and 8 and started to throw a dollar on those too ...
was a great time and i feel as if i have started someone else down that road to being a degenerate gambler ...ha ha

Actually 5 points pays 250:1 unless something has changed in the last couple of months or so.

there's 2 different payout scales. one has higher payouts at the lower numbers and the other has higher payouts at the higher numbers.

There are multiple payout schedules. Some start payouts at 3 points made but most start at 4 points made. I have seen the max payout at $500 to 1 and others pay out at $1000 to 1.

I have rolled one 6 pointer with $5 for me and $1 for the dealers. That was a cool $5000 for me (minus a 25% withhold for taxes) and $1000 for the dealers. I also was a $2 winner for a 6 point win that paid $500 to 1 at another place. I have also won a couple fo 5 pointers and several 4 pointers.

I will never play at a table with a firebet and not put at least $1 on it. My usual bet is $2 unless I am the shooter - then it is $5 for me and $1 for the dealers.

I walked up to a table once with a roll just started and watched the shooter make all six numbers. I made a nice amount on the roll, but missed the opportunity to bet the firebet because I stopped in the mensroom before hitting the tables. Damn coffee!!!

At all CET properties it is 4 pt 25-1, 5pt 250-1 and 6pt 1000-1. I know there is a different pay table at other places I found this link

Well, to be a nitpicker, it's actually 24-1, 249-1 and 999-1. The web site says "FOR", not "TO", when specifying payouts.

I didn't think you paid taxes on table wins?

Oops, 125:1 did seem off when I was thinking about that. At CET properties its a 4-5-6 pt schedule for 25, 250, and 1000.

Some places downtown and on the boulder strip it's a 3-4-5-6 schedule and is something like 7-30-125-300.

Personally I don't mind the lower 3-4-5-6 tables as its nice to win that bet a little more often as it can be brutal some days.

You are subject to tax for any gambling winnings. However table games players are basically on the honor system. An exception that a W2G form is generated if a win is 300 for 1 or more odds and is over $600.

Does this mean that if the payout is more than 300-1 and the win is over $600?

I have won 2 or 3 5-point firebets in Las Vegas there is no tax taken out.
    I won a 6-point firebet in Tunica and they didn't withhold but I had a w2g.

Where I am not understanding is the wording '300 for 1 or more odds'.

It has to satisfy both conditions. A payout of 300 for 1 or greater on a single bet and be over $600. So if you won a 500:1 bet for $1 you wouldn't get the W2G for the $500 win but if you bet $2 you would get it for the $1000 win because it satisfied both conditions. The operative word being "and".

Thanks. For me it would have made more sense to read

300 to 1, or more odds, and is over $600.

    At Wildwood in Colorado it's 3PTs 6-1, 4 PTs 30-1, 5 Pts 150-1, 6 Pts 300 to 1.

What a crushing feeling to forget to bet the firebet!

Dealers usually call it out and remind you but sometimes you miss it for whatever reason.

Wow, 5 points in, that is harsh. If I had been roling and missed that bet I probably would have shed a tear on the felt.

Hopefully you still took home a nice chunk of the casinos money on that roll!

I generally put a dollar or two on the firebet, but was at Flamingo a couple years ago and came in on the middle of a roll, the shooter had already hit 2 points. The guy rolled another 40 minutes when I got there. I made at least $1000 off the rolll and he hit all 6 numbers. Wasn't much excitement around this though as no one had bet the fire  Thankfully the next night I had a $7 fire bet while rolling by myself and hit 4 numbers :drunk:

Don't feel bad, it happens to the best of us.
I rolled at NYNY and didn't play the Low-High-All and hit them all.
The other people at the table did and they were all happy.
