First, if this is redundent go ahead and delete.

I looked around and didn't notice much on how much play at each property will get you a host or RFB.

I'm taking my 5th trip to vegas in 3 years (im 24) and now that I am climbing the corporate ladder I will actually have a bankroll with me. I use to be a strict poker player (indian casino is an hour away from me and I don't like paying an ante for bj), so I never really had comps. I know the more you play the more you get, but seeing as I'm pretty new to table games, I want to get the most for my buck.

Since I have a few vegas trips planned out over the next year, what are some of your play ratings that have gotten you a host/good comps for the differnt properties?

The problem is ive always played poker and now venturing into black jack as I go with a group of people...

This trip I am bringing 1500-2000 for 2 days. 90% BJ, 10% Craps most likely

I've been to Vegas on/off the past 12 years, and I started playing $5 craps at CET properties ($5 pass line + odds and 2 come bets + odds). I would get room offers for IP/Quad, Harrah's, and Bally's. I would get slightly discounted offers for the other "higher tier properties" CET properties. I then started playing $10-$15 craps at Venetian, and got some room offers from them too when the economy went south. I transitioned into BJ a few years ago, but didn't start receiving room offers until I cracked the $50-$75 per hand level. I usually start out at about the $50 level, then press up after every other win. I tip well and play at least 4 hours a day, so I've had my rating anywhere in the $75-$150 range (see the "Always Be Nice to Pitboss" thread for ways to improve your rating). I get room offers from most MGM properties and V/P since that it is where I tend to stay lately. I'll get some food comped on the back-end as well. Based on your bankroll, I'd say play BJ at the $25 level at a mid-tier property (Monte Carlo, MGM, Luxor, etc) to get on the radar. You might not get much comped your first trip, but once you start establishing a history with a casino you'll see offers come through. I wouldn't recommend playing at a CET property since their rules and comp policy for table game players are atrocious. If you play with a tight budget ($10-$15 per hand), don't use your player card. You'll only ruin your ADT in their system. Also, if you're traveling with friends or significant other that play slots give them one of your player's cards to use so you can increase your ADT. My wife helps out my rating this way, although technically she's using my money on slot machines : (

just to give you some perspective, since I've been there. when you first come on a trip with what you feel is "real money" and put that $25 or maybe even $50 bet out there, you get the blood pumping and heart racing and you feel like it's huge. but the truth is it's not. just for a basic room comp at upper end properties you're looking at a min of $100/hand avg 4 hours a day. to play that level you're going to want at least $5-10k bankroll for a trip. it isn't really worth even talking to a host until you're playing at that level. RFB starts at $250-300 avg. suites and RFB and all that good stuff starts at $500-1000 avg and only go up from there.

your best bet is just to play where you're comfortable and wait for some offers to come to you via mail/email in the next few months.

I think some of those numbers are a bit high (in terms of needed avg bet for comps), but this is the best and most important comment for someone like you, Weazel:

I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT increase your bets just to try and get comps!!! With your bank role, you will have a very high risk of ruin:

I think the OP said he was staying at Bellagio. Nowadays that property quotes $150-200/hand for 4 hrs a day just for a room comp. Of course, cheaper hotels will have easier comp criteria, and almost anywhere else will offer better "bang for the buck" in terms of comps.

As a mid level player, I've found what they quote to be higher than what they actually reward. For example, my last trip was 7.25 hours over 2 days at $114 a hand. They gave me a suite at the Mirage for this next 2 day trip and $100 a day in F&B.

The Mirage is an easier comp--that sounds pretty generous, though, assuming you are talking about 2 nights in a suite for 2 days of play at that level. Maybe I should stay there instead of Aria when I'm in the MGM world!

Anecdotally, I think there are hidden issues based on whether you have been overcomped or used comps lightly on past trips which impact this, but it is next to impossible to get any specifics on this from the hosts. MGM props also tend to "bring you in" at a higher level if your last trip was a big loss.

I will be staying at the B this trip, but im not married to it for the others. I will probably do most of my gambling there since I will be with a big group.

Will it be an equal carry to the other MLife properties (if I do $50/hand at the Bellagio, they will look at it as $50/hand at the mirage, mgm, etc)

Yes, the other MGM props will be able to "see" that play at the Bellagio and possibly offer you something for a future stay.

It was definitely a significant loss.

    No easy answer.

If you are looking for comps - focus play on one casino. Limit the number of "days" you appear to be playing in their system, so that you have a higher ADT. Come back with what sort of points you earned and folks can give you a better idea. A $2000 bankroll may get some free return rooms, but not alot.
