I heard that in order to get into the MGM pool complex you have to have a room key. Ok that's fine, I will be staying there and will have a key for me and my wife will have one. The question is, will I be able to get my brother and his girlfriend into the pool (they are staying at Monte Carlo)? Does evey single person need to have a key? Do they scan the key and see names of people registered for the room and check your ID? How difficult will it be to get them into the pool area with us? I guess I could always ask for another key from the front desk and say I lost 1, until I have 4.

Yes - everyone needs a room key. I would just add there names when you check in and get 4 room keys. I am sure your brother is trust worthy. Its safer this way. But all you need is a room key.

So as long as they had our room keys, they would be able to just walk right in?

That's a little tricky because the room rate is based on double occupancy, so 4 people they might try to charge more per night. I think ill go with the lost key routine and have extras for them to use.

yes - room key is all you need. Obviously, they cant charge anything to there rooms and will have to pay cash or start a tab.

Slightly off the main point, but I've never heard of a room rate in Vegas that wasn't based on double occupancy, whether it's a king room or a two-queen room -- hell, even the rate on the Aria 2-bedroom penthouse suite goes up when you change the occupancy from 2 to 4. Most people don't confront this issue because it's easy to just get extra keys and have whoever you want sleep there, but if he adds three extra names to a room, they will absolutely charge for that.

don't know what the one poster is talking about. everybody doesn't need a room key. you just need one key for your group. of course if they want to go in there without you, they will need their own working key. in that case, just ask for 4 keys at check in and say something about how you always lose them. they won't say anything.

on a side note, mansion and skyloft keys don't scan in their machine so they just let you in when you show it to them. so if you can pick up a discarded one, you can use it forever.

Its safer for everyone to have a room key. I walked in with a group at the ARIA and at the MGM. The guy asked for the room keys to the rest of my group after i walked through. I said they were with me - he said everyone needs to show a key. It depends if the person is on a power trip at the front gate. It easier for everyone to have a key.

I guess it depends on how you book or the person checking you in. I get cheap rates and or comped through the casino players club. I had a king room and queens and added a few people to my room multiple times. I never had my rate go up and there were never extra charges. So i guess it depends.

It is pretty straight forward. They will not ask for cards from both a husband and wife. They might ask for 2 keys from a group of 4. Split up your two keys, one for you and your wife and one for your friend.

They always asked to see my key, but never scanned it. And if someone else was with me, the one key usually sufficed.

Just ask for 4 keys at check-in like shifter said. The person at check-in won't care at all.
