Been to LV many times but first time at the Mirage; beautiful & CLEAN room with a nice layout, and a great location. However I have three minor complaints:

    1. There is no quick place to get a bite to eat. When the casino is busy (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) all restaurants have a line. Sometimes I just want a hot dog, burger, steak sandwich something you can pick-up and have a seat yourself area. It's not the money (that's flying out of my pocket anyway) and I'd gladly pay $7.00 for a "special" hot dog or $11.00 for a burger. Just want it quick. There is no traditional "coffee shop" either. The only quick option is an overpriced Turkey & Cheese on dry wheat bread or similar choice with sprouts at Starbucks.

    2. Our room door key card only worked on it's fourth to tenth try. A helpful bellman told me you need to slide the card in "gently". It eventually works but a recurring pain in the a**. The area to replace the card always had a line.

    3. On the weekends this hotel seems to attract the cockeyed hat, pants below your a** crowd, along with 20 something girls in skirts the size of band-aids and ridiculous high heels. Other "better" hotels did not attract this crowd on weekends. It may have to do with the late night club on the premises and/or who was appearing/happening that particular weekend. This ain't my crowd but I will admit the girls were interesting!

We would stay at the Mirage again, however there are many hotels in The Mirage quality and price point and next trip would mostly likely give another a try.

    My reply.
1- did you try the Carnegie Deli? I had a gigantic roast beef sandwich at 1 a.m. That hit the spot.

2- can't help you on this one.

3- All the weird people you see are there to go to the club 1OAK. You'll find the same crowd at Wynncore (XS, Surrender), Aria, and Cosmo. I lve EDM/house/techno but sadly the CLIENTELE and uppity attitude keep me from going.

I stayed at the Mirage for the first time early last December and loved it.

If your room key didn't work sliding in one method, try another. I've stayed at Mirage and many other places and rarely have problems with the room keys. Just push it all the way in and pull it out at one smooth speed (that's what she said).

Thanks for your reply. I did go to the Carnegie Deli and California Pizza Kitchen too. Both are good...but sometimes (while gambling) I just want a quick bite and get back to business.....or so hungry don't want to wait for waitress service.

As I said these are minor complaints.....and would go back to Mirage again especially with a comp!

They had a coffee shop, but they replaced it with BB Kings.

There is a food court directly across the street from the side entrance of the Mirage that includes a McDonalds, a Chipotle, a pizza place, etc. It took me less than 10 minutes to run over there, grab food, and run back to my seat in the sports book. I call that fast.

BB Kings was closed as of December when I was there. I think it closed around Oct-Nov.

Is there something wrong with girls in band aid skirts and ridiculously high heels? As a matter of fact if they are in overload at Mirage feel free to send some over the Rio Friday and Saturday this week :)

So does Carnegie Deli. It usually didn't take too long either.

Your first point is one of my biggest gripes about the Mirage.
No coffee shop and with BB Kings closed the choices are very limited.I'm not a fan of their upscale restaurants either.

Can't help you with the key situation but the DBs are not just at the Mirage.

On any weekend they can be easily located at Cosmo,MGM,Aria,Wynncore,PH,and even Caesars.
Over the last 10-12 years Las Vegas has become more of nightclub/lounge town than a gambling town. Once the hotels figured out they could make
$50-$100 million on nightclubs the DB factor increased exponentially in town. Permanent change I believe.

This past Monday afternoon I walked through Cosmo and the casino was pretty much empty. When I walked over to Harrahs to cash some sports tickets, the casino was pretty busy with gamblers.
One property markets to the nightclub crowd the other to mid level slot players.

Carnegie Deli FTW! They have a takeout window and at most it takes 5 mins to get your food to go.

Girls in short skirts are everywhere. The clubs in Vegas bring in HUGE money, young guys with disposable income frequent clubs that have other young half naked girls in them not blue hairs wearing Walmart Muu Muu's.

Yea I was running late to see Boyz II Men and I had to eat at that random coffee place. I was like is there really nothing else here!? The line at Carnigie was too long to wait.

I think The Roasted Bean is still there. I've had breakfast and coffee there, very nice.

I just got back from The Mirage...3.5 hrs ago.. I will agree with some of your complaints.

    1. It would have been nice to grab a quick bite to eat. Yes there was the Carnegie & BTL to go lines, but like everything else they are kind of pricy.

    2. I did have some trouble with the key but to be honest, they are all kind of crappy with the cards anywhere you go.

    3. I'm not sure I noticed the crowd you mentioned but I wasn't really paying attention to them that much. I did notice an abundance of families in Vegas this weekend. It became annoying because I'm trying to get where I'm going and I'm almost stepping on these 5 years old being dragged around by the parents.

One a side note, when I checked in I asked the guy if there was a room with a view of the Strip. He said there is if I didn't mind waiting a few hours. I didn't mind since I drove into town and left my suitcase in the car... 1 hr 40 mins later I got a txt that my room was ready. It was on the 21st floor in the West Wing. Nice view of the volcano with Wynn/Encore/Palazzo in background. I was regretting the view at night though because it was rather noisy from some street performing drummer banging away every night.. Overall the room was nice. Very similar to the new rooms at MGM.

I have to admit, though I occasionally notice that crowd at Mirage, I don't see them nearly as much as at other places with big clubs; much like Haze at Aria, 1OAK is by an entrance and you don't have to walk through the main part of the casino to get to it. It's in marked contrast to, for example, Hyde at Bellagio, where it's right in the middle of the main floor and the crowd tends to pass through and/or spill over into the gaming pits.

What moved into BB Kings? I last stayed at The Mirage in 2011, and I ate at BB Kings every morning of my trip. I think I had to wait no more than 10 mins for breakfast each morning.

With that being said, I am not a fan of The Mirage's restaurant offerings as a whole. The only other place I ate at The Mirage the entire trip was at the pool.

I haven't been there recently, but I thought I heard from somewhere that they turned the outer space into a bar.
