Does anyone know what time Santana comes on stage at HOB? also is there a opening band. Going to see him in May and really looking forward to seeing him.

show starts close to on time - not too much after 7:00 (7:30 latest). No opening band.

I saw the show last May, and it was awesome. May go again this year. I highly recommend you get GA/floor tickets. You will be able to walk right up to the stage.

Where is a good spot to sit and see the stage well? Being on the floor is not comfortable for me.

I've been on the floor with Gen' Ad tics, I've been at a table
but with folks standing in front of you (even though the stage
is high) it still messes up your view.
I've used the balcony several times now and prefer that.
The place is small enough your view and sound is great up there...
no heads in your way and it looks real good. (last Show SANTANA)
Avoid the first 3 rows. The handrail can be in your view. I was 4th
row center for SANTANA and it was great (real steep up there...)
but I certainly prefer it to the 'jam' downstairs.
For Maroon5...maybe tables on the front floor like Carlos requested
for his Show...if not, it's Gen'l Ad and standing all night.

    Great advice; any more suggestions?

The tables are up higher than the GA floor, so you are not blocked by people in front of you (at least not the several shows I have been to there). However, the seats at tables are very expensive and only available in pairs I think, so your only other option may be the balcony. Although I have never had a seat there, I agree with the comments that the place is so small, any seat is good.

If you look in the picture below, you can see how close some of the balcony seats are. you can also see the sunken floor with everyone standing. Where people are leaning against the rail in the back on the first floor - notice it is raised. For the Santana shows, that is where the tables are (side and back). You will not be blocked by people standing - with the tables there, it is roped off so others can not come in that section.
