My family of four is taking a trip to LV at the end of April. My parents are in their 50s, I am 25 yr old female, and my brother just turned 21 this year. This will be my brother and I's first visit, and it has been many years since my parents were last there.

We want to stay in the central area of the strip, but are not looking to spend a lot of $$. Our thought was under $100/night for the room, after adding in the resort fees. We will be gambling there quite a bit, might want to relax some at the pool some, and are hoping to have a decent size room to accommodate the four of us.

We are looking for a casino that has a good balance of things for each of us.
Since my brother and I are younger, we would like to stay at a fun or somewhat "hip" casino without it being too crazy or youthful where our parents will be out of place. They are fun themselves, so I don't want a very rigid atmosphere, but at the same time we don't need a place with a huge club scene either.

That being said, what are your recommendations on these choices:
    Planet Hollywood
    Paris
    Ballys
Flamingo - I've heard the pool here can get crazy busy so that might not be the pool environment we are looking for, but how about the rest of the casino?
Harrahs - I've heard there is a ton of construction in this area right now making this a really congested area. is this true?
    Treasure Island

    Thanks for your help!

Paris or Ballys would be fine.

Start checking rates. Log into facebook pages.

Read LOTS of older posts here for additional feedback.

1 Room is questionable in my mind. You will all have different hours and when sharing a room, everybody is either up or not.

Go cheap and get 2 rooms.

Paris is a good choice, as the rooms are not expensive, it is nice and the Parisian theming is calming and the place isn't crazy loud or out of control. The size is not huge, so getting lost is not really possible.
There is a decent night club for the younger folks, that's busy on weekends, and they can also walk next door to Planet Hollywood to get some younger vibe on.

Mirage would give you everything you are looking for -- except price.

Agree with prior poster re getting two rooms.

Pool, location, ambiance -- can't beat Mirage!

What about something like Elara (or whatever its called now? Hilton Grand Vacations Westgate I think) or even the Signature by MGM. Heck, even the Jockey Club. More space. If not, I agree that two rooms would be good. Mom and Dad in 1 and "kids" in another. When I read your post, the Flamingo jumped out in my mind first, but I think you would also be happy at Bally's. My mom loves that place!

The trouble with the Flamingo for a family is your are stuck at the little upper "Beach Club" pool. The large lower pool is 21 and over. I would say jockey club. You can jump on eBay and use someones time share for a very reasonable price at times. Its like a little condo. I believe most if not all are two bedroom.

I think everyone is over 21 - 25 yr old OP, 21 yr old younger brother, 2 parents in their 50s?

Having never stayed there (I changed a reservation for a shorter commute on my last trip) I might try the Hilton Grand Vacations at Flamingo. Could get more space with kitchenette, own pool BUT also access to Flamingo pools, casino, etc.

You say you want to share, but at 21 or 25 and in Las Vegas for the first time, THE LAST PLACE I WANT TO STAY is with my parents....The LAST place.

Come back at 3am piss drunk, or not at all, and mommy and daddy will know.

What happens in Vegas, mommy and daddy don't need to know (or want to know).

    You want two rooms

Missed the ages, but not so sure I would want to sit at the lower pool with my parents. Kind of the same uncomfortable feeling as watching a sex scene in a moive with you mom on the next couch!

I'm with Blue. Try the Elara, which used to be the PHo towers and is connected to PHo and the miracle mile shops. Theyre condos and look great.

I guess I should clarify a little bit. My parents are actually the ones who suggested the Vegas trip so there is no concern about them seeing us drinking or anything like that. They will almost certainly be up until 4am boozing with us - so that is really not a problem.

They just won't be into the night club scene or having a "movie sex scene" going on at the pool. At the same time, my brother and I would prefer not to be staying at a casino that feels stuffy and old.

    Then Elara, Hilton Grand Suites.
There's also the Signature at MGM, which in reality is closer to PH than to MGM.

I know every family is different but as a 25 yo guy i could never see myself sharing a bed with my 21 yo sister

If you cram a roll away in your regularroom (ph flamingo, paris) there wont be any place to move

It does not matter if the HOTEL you stay at is stuffy. You can just as easily go anywhere you want.

Still, I would get two rooms.

That's is exactly like hubbie and I and our two kids(24 & 25). But we would never share a room. Sorry, Vegas is our "special getaway place" and a private room is essential, lol

We are planning an October trip, and the kids are making noises to join us. We are prob looking at staying at Ballys (2 rooms free) or Mirage if they can swing paying for their room. They don't like to gamble a lot (and we are not funding their gambling) so if they do go, then ,most likely it will be Ballys for the lower table limits.

The problem is that you guys want different things and I can't think of a hotel that will be everything to all of you for that budget center strip. And I don't it's even a reasonable expectation to expect to get everything you want for the cost. Even though you will probably find the casino snoozy, I am going to suggest Bally's for a few reasons.

#1 The rooms are large and would be the most comfortable for four sharing a room. I wouldn't even attempt to share a room with that many people in some of the other options, especially Harrahs.
    # 2 Even though it's not a party pool, they do have a decent pool area.
#3 Location! Bally's is connected to Paris, and across the street from Bellagio, Flamingo and CP. Some of the things you may find lacking at Bally's you can get in a five minute walk across the street.

PH and Flamingo would appear to suit your needs but PH has an awful pool and I don't think Flamingo has rooms in your budget large enough for four. Paris would be the only other casino that would work from your list. One not on your list probably due to location would be Rio and it's location is probably the only thing keeping it from being perfect for you guys. You may want to think about whether you can make the shuttle work in order to take advantage of those 600 sq. ft. rooms.

Leo, thanks for the suggestions. That helps a lot. We had considered Rio, but ultimately decided that instead of having the bigger rooms, we would rather just take a smaller room in order to be walking distance to more things -since we don't plan to be in the room much anyways. We aren't expecting to have everything... just weighing the pros and cons of each.

kel3420, the lower table limits is another nice benefit. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks.

two rooms...fifty ain't that old, daddy and mom want a separate room.

we actually took each of our youngsters after their 21st birthday, and on son's trip last summer, daughter flew in to join us, and the kids were fine with sharing a room, though 2 queen beds is probably the best way to go.

first trip, center strip is probably best, we got by fine at harrahs first trip, and then splurged, for us, this last trip, since it was in june rather than over spring break, thought pool might be more important, treasure island worked fine for us, not super spendy, and while the pool is not over the top, i am sure your brother will enjoy the pool staff! the kids had fun at gilley's after the parents went to bed, the daughter and her old college roomie who flew in to join us found some cheap gambling, all of us went across the street to have a fancy drink at parasol down at the wynn...

dont rule out Harrahs..but would get two rooms. I stayed in the same room with my parents and sis when I was 20 (of course I didn't drink or gamble :wink2:) and she was 22..our next family trip we were 28/30 so we got our own room away from mom and dad. Make sure to schedule some time away from the 'rents and enjoy the vegas fun as young 20 somethings.
